I'm due the 19th, and I am so over being pregnant. I love to feel the baby moving inside me but he/she is kicking the crap out of my ribs and my belly is so heavy I am tired of lugging it around. I am really ready to finally hold my baby. I was terrifed of giving birth but now I am just so ready to meet my baby I will do anything!

I'm due 9th March. I went to the doctor 2 weeks ago and my baby was 6lb already and he's expecting her to be a 9lb-er so I am quite large. I am totally over it too - she's so heavy and fills a lot of me. I hope I am early. 24 days and counting!

anyone starting to dilate yet? I was only a 1/2 centimeter today and not effaced, I'm 35 weeks but I measured 37. I am hoping to go a week or 2 early!

Hey Sheena how do you know if you are half a centimetre dilated??
I am 37 weeks and went to the doctors today and he did not check me internally....

To Anne-Marie,
I has my strep test yesterday so he went ahead and checked me although it is customary to start checking at 36 weeks. I can't believe your doctor didn't check, my sister is 37 weeks and she was 2 centimeters at her last appt.. When does your doctor start to check because a baby born at 37 weeks is considered full term

To Sheena, yeah I thought that was the case too, I was surprised that he didn't check either. I had to ask if he was going to do the swab on me that sees if you are going to go into labour in the next week and he made me do it myself and have it sent off to the hospital. I am assuming he will get the result and tell me at my next visit but my next visit is in a week so if it is possitive I will not get the result because I will be in hospital having the baby by the time my next appointment rolls around so I will obviously know if it is negative cos I will be at the appointment. I feel neglected. He said to me as I was leaving that he would see me in a week, if not before - it was rather inconclusive and I left feeling no better off.

To Anne Marie- wow I think you need a new doctor! Although its probably a little too late to switch now, is there an another doctor in the practice you could see?

To Tara- my baby was transverse until just recently, my midwife had suggested several things to help baby move on his /her on, ie heating pading low on your pelvis ( baby is attracted to heat), Daddy wispering to baby near your pelvis and placing headphones very low on your belly may encourage baby to turn toward noise, if all eles fails ask your doctor if he is skilled in breech births contrary to what many believe breech babies do not have to be born by C-section, as long as he is bottom first not feet first. Good luck with everything and keep in touch

I don't suppose it matters too much whether I have advance warning about going into labour or not because I no longer feel anxious about it. It would have been nice to know butI guess I will when the time comes!

to sheena: i know that babies can still turn but my mother has 6 children. her 3rd child was breech and he was delivered vaginally and now is mentally handicapped. he was stuck in the birth canal for too long, and it cut off oxygen to his brain. then her 6th was breech. she was perfect until she had to deliver vaginally. her baby girl, was stuck in there for too long and her cord wrapped around her neck. im just scared and dont want anything like that to happen to me. also my dr has told me all along that i have a very small pelvis. how am i supposed to deliver when she is already so big?

Name: Sheena | Date: Feb 17th, 2006 1:14 AM
To Tara, I am confused you said your MD doesn't want to do a C-section and that you had a small pelvis and the baby is too big too turn so how in the world does your MD expect to get the baby out?

Name: tara | Date: Feb 17th, 2006 1:27 AM
to Sheena: Exactly! I feel as if she wont listen to me at all. she wants to wait and see if the baby will turn on its own with external version or moxibustion sticks. im so scared! this is my first baby, so i dont know if i should trust her or not, because i dont know what to expect. She has only been practicing for 4 years. My sister and my mom say she is a moron, but its too late to switch my dr. What should i do? If you want to email me my address is [email protected]

Tara, my son was head down all along and decided to turn breech at 36 weeks. I was pretty bummed when I went in but she did an aversion that afternoon. It wasn't fun and he turned right back around that night! He stayed breech till 38 weeks and then turned on his own. It happens, my little brother did the same thing to my mom. Anyway, when it was all said and done, he weighed over 10 lbs. and my Dr. had told me that I was pretty small too. She didn't want the baby to get over 8 lbs. but he hid pretty well... Talk to your Dr. maybe they don't realize your family history. Good luck and you'll be fine!

to chris and sheena: thank you for your help. my dr now knows my family history as well. she is going to do 1 more ultrasound 1 week from today, and if my baby girl is still breech, she will let me schedule a c section at 37.5 weeks, also due to her size at this point in time. i am so excited to meet my little girl! when are you girls due?

Name: Chris | Date: Feb 17th, 2006 6:40 PM
Tara, I'm so glad to hear that! How exciting and how lucky for you, especially if you have a large baby. (I had a lot of problems because of the size of my son.) I have a 2 1/2 year old little boy and have just gone off of the pill and was given the okay by my Dr. to start trying for #2! I can hardly wait, but I don't really know what to expect since I got pregnant with my son while I was on the pill, and I never missed a single one. Hope it doesn't take me to long. Anyway, congrats! You should have your liitle one very soon!

To Tara: I am glad your doctor is going to do a C-section, I am due the 19th and I am so jealous they are going to take you at 37 weeks, I am really hoping to go a little early. We don't know the sex of our baby and I am really ready to meet him/her. Good luck with everything what are you going to name your little girl?

Name: Tara | Date: Feb 18th, 2006 12:03 AM
to sheena: I am naming my little girl Kelsey Lynn. Lynn is my mothers middle name. Yeah i am so excited. also for all you girls, my doc just told me today that taking castor oil will not hurt you or your precious babies. she said it will only work if your body is ready. I think one of the reasons she is doing the c section at 37.5 weeks is because i told her i would take castor oil. she doesnt want my water to break before i have to have the c section. good luck to you sheena. why dont you know the sex of your child? i would be way too impatient right now. i have had 8 ultrasounds this pregnancy and 4 0r 5 have said girl all after 16 weeks, so lets hope i have a little girl.

I am Due March 30th, but will more tan likely be earlier. I was told 4 weeks ago, (30 1/2 weeks) that I was 50% ephased and 1/2 centimeter dialated. And they have nor had a complete exam since for weeks ago...Im scared, anxious, and I wish they would have completely checked me again the past couple time I went in.

Hey Bev I am almost 38 weeks and have never been told about being ephased or dilated.... how do I find out?

Name: Beverly | Date: Feb 19th, 2006 4:36 AM
Well, I switched doctors at (a few week transition) It was an internal exam (OB) ect... she could just tell by feeling I guess. I am sure they check you when you go in, ask them about your progress. If they dont ask you ask to be checked. But usually you dont start anywhere near when I did, I think it just depends on the person and their pregnancy.

Bloody hell I went last Thursday when I was 37 weeks and he did not check. I even had to ask him if he was going to do the swab on me... grr I will ring up tomorow. Thanks Bev.

Went to the doctor today, and was 1cm and 75% effaced, the baby station was negative 1, they said I could go at anytime now, even though I am only 36 weeks and 3 days. The u/s showed baby weighing just under 6 lbs (5lbs 10oz).

Tara and Anne Marie: any news yet?

Name: tara | Date: Feb 22nd, 2006 4:02 AM
sheena, no news. i am so miserable, my baby is so big! i wish mine weighed only 5 10. i go to the dr on the 27th. i have my baby shower this saturday, im so excited. i hurt so bad though, i couldnt even imagine ever getting pregnant again.

Name: Sheena | Date: Feb 22nd, 2006 4:14 AM
You poor thing, I know how you feel, I think women tend to forget the pains of pregnancy and childbirth, if they didn't we wouldn't have more than 1 (lol). I had my shower Sunday, I got so much stuff, almost everything we needed. Is your OB not seeing you every week?

Name: Anne-Marie | Date: Feb 22nd, 2006 4:49 AM
I went to hospital last night and saw the midwife, the baby's heart is very healthy and my uterus is normal. I asked about the dilation and effaced thing and she said it is not always necessary to do a test and that if a Dr. says that you are 2-3 cm dilated but not having contractions then he is being generous.

The uterous contracts and lifts the abdomen which in turns lifts and strecthed the cervix making it dilate therefore, just cos you can see the front of it opening, if your waters have not broken, you have lost the plug or are not having contractions it doesn't matter. I'm glad I went cos I was concerned that everyone else was having dilation checks and I was not.
