so I am having the period from hell!! It came on saturday afternoon and it came full force. I am soaking a super plus tampon every 1.5 hrs. I have been wearing a tampon and a pad jsut to keep from leaking all over the damn place. Yesterday was day three of bleeding like that so I called my OB to make sure that it was normal. HE was totally freaked that I was bleading that much and told me to go to the ER. Well I was at work so I just had to go up stairs. I was thinking that it would jsut take a few min to make sure that all was good, but it took 6hrs! They had me sit on chucks naked so they could see how much blood was coming out and it was 5.3 ounces in two hours! I guess that is alot because the ER dr called to see what my blood type was incase I needed units! I was like WTF. I didn't end up needing anything since my platelet levels were ok. I am anemic, but that is to be expected loosing that much blood. so basically After two bags of IV fluid, an iron shot, a ton of blood work, a pelvic and and US (which required a cath) I was told that yes the bleeding is way too much, but nothing is wrong on the inside to be causing it. So no answers as to why I am bleeding so heavy. I have to go to my OB on friday so we will see what he has to say. It has slowed down thank God, but it is still pretty heavy. Oh and I have poison ivy something fearce. It itches like crazy and I have managed to spread it from one small spot to both arms my boobs and the entire right side of my stomach. I got some meds for that and some iron pills. Hell the only good thing I ahve going for me right now is that I lost 14lbs in 30 days :) ↓

| I had a very similiar situation except mine was even worse I would put a super plus in and literally within a few minutes I was pouring out again. I was unfortunately in another country at the time so that was even scarier (not one you wanted to be stuck in with any problem let alone an area one). I called my doc an OBGYN from John Hopkins (he is actually one of the top in the US) and he said hang on till I got home and then call. I did and like yours at that point it had slowed to a very heavy period. He said that for whatever reason this happens to some ladies once or twice in their lives there is no real reason. It has never happened since and I never found out why. You are definitely not alone. ↑ |

| Wow Jill I bet that sucked. I just thought i'd mention that when I got my first PERIOD after my postpartum bleeding had stopped it also was VERY HEAVY. I mean my periods before were light and lasted a few days. This was, like you, a super plus tampon about every 1 1/2 - 2 hours. This lasted like 7 days. Then it started to lighten up. I started my period on June 13th, and I am still spotting (not enough to wear anything, just when I wipe). I never thought to call my doctor though, I thought it was normal! I guess I should have, but oh well its over now! Good luck! ↑ |

i have lost 30 pounds and i only gained 20 pounds with tyler so im actually loosing weight!! i was 116 now im 110 ugh i have no more body fat, my old jeans dont fit... because they are TOO BIG!!! i hate it ↑ |

| oh that would suck to have it happen in another country. There were several times that I would leak through in like 15min, but most of the time it was about 1-1.5 hrs Actually I don't wear tampons I use a vag cup called instead. It is shapped sort of like a diaphram and foes inside the same way. It is plastic and holds the flow. Most people don't know what they are so I jsut sue the super plus tampon as a reference, but they actually hold more then that. When I went to bed I was wearing the cup a tampon and a pad and I still bled through in 5hrs. That is mostly what prompted me to call the dr. I hope it doesn't happen to me again either. I had lost all of my baby weight by my two week follow up, Hell I prob lost it the day she was born LOL, but then I put about 10lbs back on just sitting my ass at home and not moving much LOL I was hoping to loose 50 lbs by december and for the first time it looks like I may jsut reach my goal :) ↑ |
