I'm not fond of needles either, just look away when they poke you and be sure to tell the nurse that you are nervous, just in case. It seems worse than it is, it just feels like a pinch and you shouldn't feel anything after that. As for the epidural, by the time you get it, you really won't care! Plus, you can't see the needle because they are behind you and replace the needle with a hollow catheter. The nice thing about having blod taken from your arm is that there are less nerve endings there than in your finger tip, so you feel a lot less than a finger prick.
