Does anyone have a needle phobia or fear of needles? If so, how did you get over it and did you have needles during your pregnancy? Any advice on how to get over this phobia, or any experiences (good ones) people have had with having blood tests please tell. How does it feel? Does it hurt? I have never had a blood test in my life. Or a needle for that matter

me too honestly i am almost as freaked out, if not more freaked out, by the idea of an i.v. and an epidural than giving birth itself!

I'm not fond of needles either, just look away when they poke you and be sure to tell the nurse that you are nervous, just in case. It seems worse than it is, it just feels like a pinch and you shouldn't feel anything after that. As for the epidural, by the time you get it, you really won't care! Plus, you can't see the needle because they are behind you and replace the needle with a hollow catheter. The nice thing about having blod taken from your arm is that there are less nerve endings there than in your finger tip, so you feel a lot less than a finger prick. You'll be fine when the time comes!
