Hi to all! I'd like to start off by saying that I came across this website by searching for pregnant women that still get what appears to be a period. I found the post by Shanna from Oct. 05 that had 936 posts, WOW! I have read almost all of those posts, and a few suggest starting a new post. I would have to agree. I am hoping that some of the people from those posts are still on this site and might be able to share their stories with me.

Here is my situation, I have had 4 children and with all of them I stopped menstruating like most do. My most recent son is now 9 1/2 months old. I am still breastfeeding him regularly. My first menstrual cycle after his birth came on Aug. 6th 08. My 2nd cycle came 42 days later on Sep. 16th. Then on Oct. 1st, I had what seemed to be implantation bleeding, I was very worried, because I really don't want anymore children. I was using a spermacide only, as birth control until I got my diaphram recently. I was so convinced that it was implantation bleeding that I have been taking tests monthly to be sure that it wasn't. Anyway on Oct. 14th I had what I thought was my period. Again on Nov. 11th, Dec. 5th, and Dec. 26th. So you see, they have been somewhat inconsistant, I assume because I am still breastfeeding. I really haven't been to concerned about being pregnant up until now, because of all of the neg. tests. I have gained 10 pounds, I am always very tired, my appetite has increased and my boobs are bigger even after son has nursed. After taking a shower the other day I noticed how pregnant I looked and I could see movement! I kept thinking that it was just my imagination and that I was crazy. But now I am not so sure! I have read many stories about women who continue periods and don't realize their pregnant, has this happened to any of you? And if so, when did you find out? Were you getting neg. tests and bleeding? If Oct 1st was true implantation bleeding, then I would be about 17 1/2 weeks along. I read one post where a nurse told someone that you would not get a positive urine test untill you actually stop bleeding. Anyone else heard this? I realize the only way to find out is to get a blood test and/or an ultrasound. That is my next step! I am just curious how common this might be. I would love to hear any stories that you might have or heard, even similar to mine. Thanks for reading this very long post!
