yes they can as far as how long your cycle really is if its 28 days or later, and when you think you had it. plus if you are pregnant they will be able to tell with a transvaginal ultrasound. thats what they had to do with me to date the pregnancy.

I had a transvaginal ultrasound & my doctor measured the baby and got my due date . Would that due date be accurate ?

Yup. That due date would be about as accurate as you could get. You also have to remember that the "due date" is kind of the "due month" because it's unlikely that you'll deliver on it anyhow. As long as you know about how far you are along then it should be fine (as far as matching up milestones and making sure that you're making the progess you should) - and the doctor can definitly tell that by using the ultrasound.

It's about as accurate as they can get. When you feel the baby move, it's called quickening, then they can pinpoint the due date a bit more accurately. You should feel that mvmnt. b/w 18-20 weeks, but it can be later if it's your first. Like I said before I'm due 12/20, and my dr. got that from the transvaginal sonogram. I didn't know my LMP for sure either, but I guessed around 3/13 b/c that was spring break here and my fiance and I went out of town. You're gonna have to wait and see, but regardless only about 10% of women deliver on their estimated due date. Just excpect a baby somewhere around december. Transvaginal u/s when given in the 1st trimester are quite accurate, give or take 4 or 5 days, so your dr. is right on. Don't worry your pg and the baby will be here soon enough.

when i had my ultrasound to date the pregnancy they had my due date at 11 Nov of this year but at my 20 week ultrasound i was really 22 weeks so it can be off by up to two weeks.

when did u have your 1st u/s christen? That's just what I've read on the web. Also, the later your u/s the less accurate it can be. I'm just expecting it somewhere around december. I wouldn't be surprised if I go into Jan. I have an u/s tomorrow and hopefully find out the gender and my due date will be adjusted as well.

my first ultrasound was when i was supposedly 10 weeks and 5 days. but in reality i was 12 weeks and 5 days, so you never know.
