He is done with his bottles!!! He hasn't used a bottle in 4 days and he just turned 8 months on the first!!!!! He loves his sippy. When it gets half full he can hold it all by himself! Plus he learned to wave over Christmas weekend!

aaawwwww how cute is that. My son started taking just a sippy at about 9 or 10 months. he jsut didn't like the bottle anymore. I was so glad not to have to break him from the bottle.

Holy Crap girls!! I wasn't even planning to start taking away bottles until Sophie is 1 year. She loves to drink water out of a sippy. Should I start giving her formula in it too?? And she eats almost no solid food. Any suggestions??

I would try it. If she likes the sippy then let her use it. Some babies have an attachment to the sucking that they can do with a bottle and some jsut don't really care. I think my son was jsut one that didn't care. as long as he got what he needed he was fine and honestly the sippy cup is less work for the baby as long as they can handle it.

does she just not like solid foods yet?

We've struggled with the solids from the beginning. She went through a phase where she ate the sweet potatoes, but only half a container and maybe a half teaspoon of cereal. My doctor said she should be eating 3 meals a day (of solids) by 9 months. I try to give her breakfast and dinner, but she basically just refuses to eat it. I've switched from the rice cereal to the oatmeal, I've tried every 1st food they offer, and the only ones she seemed to like are the sweet potatoes and the pears. But she's never eaten much - 4-5 mouthfuls tops. It's very frustrating. She's gaining weight so that's not the problem. It's annoying throwing away so much food.

if you are having trouble transitioning from bottle to sippy cups nubby sippy cups have a soft top that they can still suck and this gets them use to the sippy cup

good mothering Noahsmama,
My son just turn 20 months and I have every kind of sippy cup you can imagine, every time I give him a sippy cup he crys and says bobble(for bottle).. I am hopeing tho that he'll get over the whole bottle stage ASAP because he still wakes up every night for a bottle which really is rediculas.....

Isn't it great when they give things up! In the last 7 months iIhave got my son into a bed, Away from Bottles and Got him to throw his dummy away! I love it when they forget all about it! The next things is proper using the toilet! He goes on it a couple of times a day but we need to get started on that one!

My husband and I have tried to get my son to sleep in his own bed and he simply refuses. Everytime we put him in there he is literally up all night screaming. So in order for us to get any sort of sleep we end up bringing him in to our room. He says he is afraid of his bed and that halloween is naughty.

Halloween is what he has started to call ghosts.

Noah never used a pacifier.... I don't like them and my husband doesn't either so we just never gave him one. He doesn't miss it because he never knew it. I'm glad we did it that way because now I don't have to worry about taking it away from him. I just can't believe how fast he's growing... 8 months already and I can still remember the feeling of finding out I was pregnant with him like it was yesterday!

As soon as Ethan started to walk we stopped giving him his pacifier during the day and he only got when he took a nap or at night. At 1 1/2 we completely took it away from him. We had about 2 really bad nights but by the 3rd night no problem what so every. He's just now attached to his blanket.
