This is the message that my vet friend sent to me. I know that you're not the one who gave your dog the benadryl so just ignore that part.
About the dog:
I think it needs to be seen by a vet if it's vomiting. First thing that comes to mind is Parvo, since it's the season now. Benadryl is a non-steroidal anti- inflammatory and is not really useful for treating for the sickness. If anything it may dehydrate the dog further, so tell her to stop giving it. The nutri-cal is a good idea, as well as pedialyte for rehydration and electrolyte replacement. If the dog is not eating well she can try some baby food. But if the dog cannot hold anything down and has bloody diarrhea, then I strongly suggest she have it seen. The longer she waits, the worse it will get and the more expensive the treatment becomes, not to mention the mortality of the dog. We have been getting a lot of parvo cases lately at the clinic. It costs roughly $200 to get treatment started (high estimate). And we cannot bill people anymore, so if she has a credit card or some relatives she can get money from, now would be the time to use those resources. ↓
