This is the message that my vet friend sent to me. I know that you're not the one who gave your dog the benadryl so just ignore that part.

About the dog:
I think it needs to be seen by a vet if it's vomiting. First thing that comes to mind is Parvo, since it's the season now. Benadryl is a non-steroidal anti- inflammatory and is not really useful for treating for the sickness. If anything it may dehydrate the dog further, so tell her to stop giving it. The nutri-cal is a good idea, as well as pedialyte for rehydration and electrolyte replacement. If the dog is not eating well she can try some baby food. But if the dog cannot hold anything down and has bloody diarrhea, then I strongly suggest she have it seen. The longer she waits, the worse it will get and the more expensive the treatment becomes, not to mention the mortality of the dog. We have been getting a lot of parvo cases lately at the clinic. It costs roughly $200 to get treatment started (high estimate). And we cannot bill people anymore, so if she has a credit card or some relatives she can get money from, now would be the time to use those resources.

Christina thank you for all of your help, you have helped me so much, my little Chubs seems to be doing much better this morning he was chasing the cat around the house and he is being his little rambunctious self. He was eating I mean a lot he chowed down I mean he hadn't eaten in 3 days and he made it all up this morning. Thank you for your concern. And the Nutir_cal did work. I don't know how I can thank you for this. Thank You!

That is so awesome! I'm glad to know he's doing better! Make sure you keep this up for awhile okay. Give him the nutri cal for at least a couple more days. Since he's eating though just give him half the ration. And still make sure he's drinking water. Also, have you given him his shots yet? If you haven't I'd wait for a little bit until you know for sure that he's in the clear. Giving them when they are sick will only make it worse. I'd probably watch his behavior and food and water consumption for about a week. Then make sure you start him on his shots! They're very important, you need to give him his "5 in 1" shot. It's 4 of the same shot every 3 weeks. Keep him away from other people too and keep him inside. If it was parvo, do you think it came from your yard? If so you can mix up a batch of half bleach and half water and spray the whole yard. That beside's parvosol is the only thing that I know kills the virus. If you have anymore questions I'd be happy to help....as long as I know the answer.....if not I can ask someone else....And you are very welcome!
