Honey, we can't tell you for sure if everything is going to be alright. There's just no way for us to know that. Every pregnancy situation is different. What's fine for someone else isn't fine for another. You know what I mean? Chances are though that your baby will be fine since you stopped. I wouldn't worry and stress yourself out over it. There's nothing you can do about what is done. What you can do is take extremely good care of your body now and do everything healthy, and keep working at quiting those cigs! Just to let you know, I'm 24 weeks and 4 days preggo! I'm 26 and too was a big drinker. Mostly on the weekends. I was about 3 months pregnant when I found out!! So I had my worries too. I stopped everything! No alchohol, no cigs or any other smokes for that matter, no caffeine, no processed meats, hardley any chocolate, no sodas,......So far everything looks healthy for me (the baby that is) my pregnancy has gone smoothly so far, I take all my vitamins everyday! Make sure you do that! Prenatals, iron, and folic acid. The folic acid helps prevent birth defects from what I remember about reading on it. Good luck and Congratulations!! And stop worrying! It's not going to do you any good. Just treat this like a perfect pregnancy, keep your mind and soul clear of negative thoughts. I know that might sound cheesy but it helps me to not stress out over things that you just can't do anything about.

I did the same thing except i didn't know untill I was 3 mns Pregnant and I had drank and got pretty drunk every weekend during that 3 months I even went to a rock concert and to the bars. But as soon as I found out I quit drinking and I had like one smoke a day but soon I hated the taste and feeling of that smoke and I quit that completely after another month. I am 24 weeks now and all the tests came back good so I'm hoping on a healthy baby. They check everything in the ultra sound from the heart development to the brain development so i think you have a pretty good feeling of if everything is going ok. They do this around the 16 week mark. Soon you will feel the baby kick and move around and you start to feel better. Good luck

heather, i didnt hear the heartbeat at 12 weeks, but i know you can see the heartbeat really early on with a sonogram. the doppler wont pick up the heartbeat if your not a certain week. i heard mine at 18 weeks. dont worry about it if you dont hear it with the doppler, just schedule a sono..or wait for a few more weeks. im sure they will try to hear it anyhow.
