they told me at my last ultra sound that my baby was lying sideways and that the reason he might not be going head down is because the cord is wrapped around his neck and might not be giving him enough slack to turn...they said that this was nothing to worry about.....but of course it still worries me....

has anyone else had this happen where they knew the cord was wrapped around the babies knew during the pregnancy?

Hi lacirrom, it is scary whan the cord is wrapped around bub's head, Whan i went into labour with our second baby i was at the pushing stage and whan i pushed her head out the cord was wrapped around her neck, the doctors had to push her back up inside me ( which was bloody painful) so they could cut the cord than she came out, she was blue whan she arrived and that was so scary. Just take it really easy and relax as much as you can and hopefully bub will move around and untangle it's self. Hang in there

I found out in delivery that Noah had the cord wrapped around his neck twice... he was laying sideways and it was preventing him from coming out on his own. The doctor had to use forceps to help him get his head out and once the head was out he unwound the cord and pulled the rest of him out. He was blue and not crying, but after the nurses were done cleaning him and rubbing him he was fine... he only let out one cry though.

Kendra had the cord around her neck, but we didn't know until I was in labor and her heart rate was lost twice. I had an emergency c-section. Like you dr said it is not really a big deal esp. since you are aware of it now before you are in labor. I can say that it is super scary to hear your baby's heart stop beating so I would say opt for the c-section instead of risking a vag birth if they suspect a cord issue. The first time Kendra's heart rate dropped it was an 8min episode and a couple of those she had no heart rate at all. There was a chance of brain damage and taht just scared the hell out of me. Some babies have enough cord to be born with no problems, but to me it is just not worth the risk. Good luck and I hope everything works out good for you

Aliyah had the cord around her neck too. They didn't say she did until she came out, but I think they knew becaue every time I pushed her heart rate dropped and I had a feeling that's what it was, but since her heart rate went back up, she had me just continue pushing but had the on call doctor (I had a midwife) on stand by for a c-section just in case.

thanks everyone.....it is scary knowing the cord is around his neck...i think about it everytime i feel him move. it nice knowing though because this way if i ever notice a lack of baby's movement i will NOT hesitate to call the doctor and get to the hospital, were as, if i didn't know i might think it's nothing a put it off.

they are talking about a c section anyway because of him being so large and because of him being transverse....but hopefully the cord will come off of his neck and he will go head down and everything will be fine. i mean, i will have the c section if it's whats best for the baby or me but i had both of my kids vaginaly and a c section just seems very foriegn to me with alot more pain afterward. hopefully everything works out.

i find out tomorrow if i have GD for sure...keeping my fingers crossed!

brooke was transverse until 24 weeks, and then she turned breech. my doctor was going to attempt to turn her at 37 weeks, but i went into labor at 35 weeks. she was still breech, so of course i had to have a c-section. the cord was wrapped around her body twice. in fact she had brusies on her back from them pulling it off of her. for me it was great that they didnt try to turn her because the cord was around her so tight. but try not to worry because worrying doesnt help. plus a c-section isnt that bad!

also remember that the baby could turn at any time. not all babies are stubborn like brooke.

yeah its just that they think he's not turning because of the cord....they think that he doesn't have enough slack to turn and so the only way he will turn is if he gets the cord off of his neck. they said that as long as the cord is around his neck they wont try to turn him either.
the only thing that bothers me about having a c-section is that i have a 3yr and 2yr old little girls to take care of on top of having a newborn and a c-section will just make everything that much harder.

yeah the thing that will be hard is that you wont be able to pick them up, aside from that recovery time is really fast!

well that shouldn't be too bad because do to all the preterm labor risks i'm having i'm not aloud to pick them now....every once in awhile i still have to pick up my 2 year old because well, sometimes a 2 yr old just doesn't understand "i can't pick you up"....but other than that i don't pick either of them up.
