I just saw the weirdest video on youtube. A woman actually ate a piece of her placenta. She said if you eat it, its supposed to help prevent depression and also help shrink the uterus back down to normal size. This was the first I had ever seen or heard of it. Strange if you ask me but hey more power to her.

lol. I think that's nonsense! There is no medical justification of that.

Most animals, carnivorous mothers, eat their placenta after giving birth for 2 reasons

1. To hide the fact that young have been born, so as to protect her young from predators.
2. For nutrition.

IMO humans have no benefit from eating it, as people, in general are well nourished enough ...

it helps bring in a bigger supply of milk.. and very nutritious so your baby gets all those good things through your breast milk.. personally i wouldn't do it LOL i think its disgusting.. but a lot of religions take it home and cook it and eat it.... Also my midwife asked if i wanted to take it home and plant it under a tree... i only wanted to take my baby home haha.

If you think this is yucky.. some religions believe that after you give birth you shouldn't bathe / shower for like 6 weeks.. EWWWWWWW
