i found out a couple of weeks ago that i am pregnant, it came as a suprise as i hadn't planned to get pregnant, but my main concern is giving up smoking which no matter how hard i try i can't. Its made harder by nic patches recommanding you don't use them while your pregnant. I feel as though i have no chance at the moment.

i no you are probly trying hard but you really have got to try harder! you can do it other ways like cutting down gradually not acutally inhaling the smoke, going cols turkey for the sake of your baby...although docters may well surgest that patches are or could be harmful but mine has told me that they are far better than fags!the smoke crosses your placenta with the baby so when your smoking your baby is to shorly u no thats not fair. well you are harming your baby big time it could be born still or under waight or have serious problems breathing is that fair really? just try your best ok. let me no how things go on x x x

i'm still trying and have cut down from over a pack a day to around 10, but any more seems impossibly. It doesn't help that my bf smokes, so does my mum and most of my friends.

i managed, after a while to give up smoking. I was about 4 months in, yes it was hard but its important you quit, even if you do start up again the day after birth like i did. If it helps think how much you'll look forward to starting again.
