Hey Worried,

Ive been anorexic/purging for about 4 years now, at the moment im 16, still have an ED and pregnant of twins. I know this sounds weird, but there is still a posseblity to get pregnant. But you should go see a doctor and talk this over with him/her. He/she can give you as much information and advice how to get a healthy baby and how to get pregnant. Good luck, ill pray for you.

Love, Hailee!

hello, im 24 and have been bulimic for 11 years! Last year i gave birth to a beautiful healthy baby boy , however my health suffered even more so and my kidneys were damaged i needed constant medical care through the end stages of my pregnancy and im not as well as i was pre pregnancy now but my advice to you is try and get yourself healthy before you concieve and take pronatal [multi vitamins and folic acid ]for expectant mothers prior and throughout your pregnancy. Eating disorders are a terrible illness but you can still have children providing you realise they are more precious than you and weight gain is meaningless to your child they love you for you.

I have been bulimic for 16 years and i have 4 children. I consider my self blessed. Now the struggle is to live healty for them. Children need their mommy. No one will love them like we do. lets not give anyone the chance to try.

Hi Worried. I have been anorexic/bulimic for 20 years and just gave birth to a healthy baby boy this past Janurary. But you should always consider that we are all built differently and with eating disorders, it varies according to how cronic and often you act on it. I have always exercised and have a tendency to binge on healthy food, rather than junk food. I am 41 and my husband and I have been married for almost four years. I guess it all depends on how well you are taking care of yourself these days. I am sure you know that our battle is daily and eating disorder is just the "side effect" of other underlying psychological problems. I made a decision of coming to terms with my hardships and past. But the battle continues on and it is up to me (and you) to really want to change the eating pattern and the obssession with body image. I ceased fasting, bingeing and purging the minute I heard I was pregnant (very first week of pregnancy) and during my pregnancy I did not experience morning sickness at all. I also ate well balanced nutritious meals. I continued to exercise (moderately) and after the 7th month I stoped aerobics and went swimming. Babies are "hard core" job and the stress associated with raising kids can lead you right back into old habits. Been there done that. However, I care for my child a great deal and got medical support and spiritual support in order to overcome this monster called Eating Disorders. Remember: once you get pregnant it is not about you anymore...it is all about the life of your child. I will be praying for you.
Lots of Love, Sincerely, LGunn

Hi worried,

I was also anorexic for several years, and stopped having my period for about 3 years. I think you should talk to your doctor about your fertility, but I want you to know that if you are becoming healthy now, your chances of conceiving are good. Just make sure that you ARE getting healthy now.

I just found out that I am a month pregant! Good luck to you - if you ever need to chat about your body image, etc., just post another message and I will respond. Its has taken years, but I am finally okay with a normal body weight.

Take care.

U may have......usually what happens is that ur periods could become irregular..maybe like get ur period one day and then its over.....so yes its definitly harder to try and conceive when you've been bulimic and anorexic that long..Im not tryna scare u or anything but theres a chance of damage so u cant have a baby....but just keep trying and see what happens...thats up to the creator tho' good luck

Thats really sad to think about. my older sister bitches at me all the time about my anorexia because one day i want a family and we new this girl who was a really good friend of the family and she was anorexic and bulimic and she was told that because of all the damage that she had done to her body it was nearly impossible for her to try and have kids. however your best bet would be to go and get a for sure answer from a physcian. 15 is very young to get pregnant!
But if you really want a baby then stop your eating disorder now cause while you are throwing up,or not eating your baby wont be getting any of the norishment it needs to develop!
