Well I was browsing a website and one of those annoying adverts came up (like the ones on here)...and it said "you have 2 new crushes from people in...." and it said MY TOWN!

Well immediatley alarm bells rang! My computer (i thougt) was fully updated with the right Virus/firewall/spyware stuff....It scans automatically once a week and checks for updates daily.

But i just ran a scan thinking (Something MUST be in my computer if they know my town as its very small!) and it came up 27 infections.

I am 99% sure they came from friggen Babycrowd! I havent been in here for so long....then low and behold they "infections" are dated when I came on here to post for atomic!

Plus they are all those advertising type ones, like the shitty stuff that appears in here.

So.......watch out I guess if you use this site reguarly. ↓

they know your town, because of ip address.........Mine does not come up as y city, but from where my server is........ ↑

yep..i get that too. winn is right...it just recognizes your ip....as for all your "infections" i think that's a completely separate issue. my computer is scanned regularily and i haven't had a problem. ↑

It just seemed to make sense as I obviously I dont visit babycrowd, and the "bugs" were dated the same date I posted the atomic post...and I remember having loads of sodding ads wehn trying to log in!

They can tell the TOWN from an IP address? I just thought it was a general area! Like....i thought it'd say Staffordshire...not my TOWN! lol. Crikey that's really worrying !

And yeah I dont have any problems usually.......and these were "low threat" advertising ones....nothing sinister. Hmm, well they are removed now! ↑

I just googled "whats ip address" and it come up a site where you can SEE your IP address...So i went on that.

It come up a list of numbers and then next to it a map and in brackets my town name.....and the name listed was the name that the website advert thing showed me.....

so winn was right, it knew my town from my IP address...I didnt know it was that explicit! ↑

every site you go in, "sees" your ip address, every email you send etc...... ↑

It sees EMAILS?! BUt....My emails have my last name? Some have even had my address and telephone number in! ↑
