Hi everyone,

Well my little one has gotten her first stomach virus. I'm real good with common medicines, but I'm not so great at homeopathic/all natural treatments.

Does anyone have any good ways to treat diarrhea... other than a cork, LOL. I am currently trying rice water... any other remedies that have worked for you.

Thanks

pedialyte, diarrea is sometime caused by dehydration, and low electrolytes, and pedialyte helps that, diarrhea is simply from the feces being rushed through the intestines, and thats what most medicines do, is slow them down. [just= saying, but u probably already knew that ] but pedialyte worked my niece

Diarrhoea is the bodys way of ridding itself from infection, so it's natural and you shouldn't every try to 'dry it up' with medicines or anything.
Simply give lots of clear fluids (not milk) to replace what she's losing. The body will stop the diarrhoea when it's ready to and not before - nothing you give will help really.
You can relieve the cramps and discomfort using Fennel Tea - it doesn't taste brilliant, but it's extremely good at relieving gut pain.
You can also try slicing some fresh ginger and steeping it in boiling water for a little while. Cool it down until it's warm and add a little sugar - this helps with pain, cramps and nausea.

Yeah, acidophilus helps to replenish the good gut bacteria that are lost during a bout of diarrhoea - that's a good idea. They also sell yoghurts and little drinks with this added to make it easier to take.
