I don't know when my kids would be born if I left them sit in there. Both had to be induced. I had no signs they say would be by the end - dropping, "show", water break - nothing! Just sitting in there enjoying themselves.

If you have epidural in Australia - by all means use it. That way you will feel everything but won't feel the pain. You have to dilate to 4 cm though to be given an epidural - so you'll have some pain.

Yup we have the epidural...

I was going to try and stay away from it though. Just because ive heard some horror stories of the side effects...taking so long to wear off..plus there was a girl here paralized after the shot.
We have the Gas and Pethedine shot..which would help...but definly not take away the pain all together

With my oldest daughter they told me on the first visit that I was due on August 15th, at my first ultrasound they said the 13th and she was born on the 14th. My other daughter I was induced early. I had epidurals with both, LOVED THEM!!! They messed up my one with my littlest, but I would still have one if I had know the problems I had. If that makes sense.

My daughter was due on December 6th. On that date, my water broke but my labor didn't start naturally. I was induced with Pitocin and it took me 8 painful (back labor) hours to get to 4 cm to get the epidural. After the epidural it took another 7 1/2 hrs to have her but thank god I felt no more pain. That is until after I had her (on December 7th) and my uterus would not contract and I ended up staying on Pitocin all day and night and I hurt just like contractions just in the bottom of my stomach. It was all worth it though!

I was two weeks late! They also had to induce me, that girl did not want to come out!! I was in labor for 20 hours and pushed for almost 3 with no drugs! She is still stubborn as ever too. haha

Actually I take that back, they softened my cervix and I was planning to go back in that next morning to get induced. i went into labor right before they were going to.

Hey l3itchy

Both my kids were born on their due dates. My OB was out of town on conference (with his replacement doctor) on my first childs due date and he told me the likelihood of me having him on time was 3-4%. My second went exactly on time as well.

I planned for a natural for my first but we moved into our new farm the day before he was born so I was pretty stressed and uptight so I gave in when they offered the epidural because I wanted it to be easy and it wasn't...I had back labour and it didn't help...here in Canada they will give you a minimal amount (so you can still walk around...lying down usually prolongs labour)...which is what I agreed to...but they had to up it bacause it didn't work for me and I ended up incapacitated and in a lot of pain and not able to do ANYTHING about it. For my second I read a book called "Birthing from within" (about how birthing is natural and how to prepare yourself for it)..I can't remember the author...and went natural...a truly amazing experience. The pain was intense but I was more sure of myself and instead of feeling powerless to the pain I waS EMPOWERED BY IT. I highly recommend you explore going natural. An amazing experience I will always remember.

my baby was originally due october 23. she was scheduled to be taken by c-section on the 17. she decided she wanted to be born on the 6. i had to be out completely for my surgery because of my back. it took an extra 9 minutes for the doc to get her out because every time he reached in to get her, she scooted further up. he ended up reaching in to his elbows to get her.

My waters burst 5 weeks early so we were in a panic...all baby stuff still in boxes at home, no bag packed....anyways I was induced the next day. After 8 hours I still wasn't dilated...not one little bit. The mid wife told us that they could give us one more round of the inducement drug but that it might stress the baby....or we could do an emergency c-section right there. Well we opted for the c-section because I didn't want Tana to be distressed. My whole plan at the beginning was to have a natural birth in the lovely birthing room with soft lights and music and a nice big tub to soak in.... and I ended up having a c-section. I guess my only advice is to be prepared mentally for anything. Births are unique and you can never tell how yours will be.

My due date was April 30th and they induced labor on May 1st. They didn't want to let it go any longer because I had Gestational diabetes and they were afraid the baby would get too big.. he was only 6 lbs 13 oz lol

Name: Stacy | Date: Nov 15th, 2006 4:20 PM
Due date was the 19, baby showed up on the 17.

Labor is an individual thing, some women say "yes, it hurt" & others say "Oh my G--, pain from He--, never again". You never know how it will be.

Good luck.

Noahsmama, my daughter was born 2 and 1/2 weeks early and she weighed in at 7lbs 9and1/2 ozs! i too had gestational diabetes.

they said she wouldve been a 10 pounder at least if she hadnt been early. sometimes theres something to be said for prematurity!

WOW mspeachpit! I didn't find out I had GD until I was almost 7 months along. I had a pretty easy time keeping my sugars down though because if I ate anything sweet I threw it right back up and the only liquid that would stay down was water. I was sick all day every day for the first 8 months of my pregnancy so maybe that helped me?

Name: mspeachpit | Date: Nov 15th, 2006 4:36 PM
i think that probably had a lot to do with it. i never had morning sickness. i never had any symptoms of pregnancy. i had skipped two cycles (which is perfectly normal for me) so i thought i would take a test. i was 9 and 1/2 weeks along before i knew she was coming!

Name: NoahsMama06 | Date: Nov 15th, 2006 4:44 PM
I knew even before my period was due that i was pregnant. I took a test 2 days before I was due and it was positive. Morning sickness doesn't even describe what I had. I think the only time I left the house for the first 4 months was to go to my Dr. appt and to do that we had to leave 1 1/2 hours early because I'd have to stop so many times to throw up. I had to take the test for GD three times because I threw that nasty stuff back up.
