Fresh fruit and veggies always a good snack! If you eat something you think you shouldn't have. DON'T beat yourself up for it!! Just start over again! In fact, I allow myself a slip here and there!

my addiction is food and I just can't leave it alone. I eat when i know i'm not hungry all the time! It's like I'm on a one way mission to see what i can find to eat next! I start a diet,i stick to it awhile and then BAM! I'm right back to my old ways again gaining everything back that i just lost! I need to have my jaws wired shut!!!!! For a freaking YEAR!!!!! Maybe I'd lose a hundred pounds!!!!!!

Lory, what foods are considered "free" foods when dieting? Is it all fruits and veggies or just certain ones?

Ermm, let's see now.........."You're a huge blubbery WHALE and if you don't lose weight your bath will overflow and come crashing through the ceiling and trash the house"!!!!!!!!

Is that enough incentive??? *LOL*

In my opinion all of 'em! Most of them have natural sugars which is okay. I try to say away from refined sugars. I guess what I'm trying to say it's okay to eat whatever. I've been on this diet kick for some time now. Portion size is important. I had to find a "different" way to eat. Water is a great help also. And..exercise at least 3x a week. Sorry to get so serious on you. But, I have struggled for awhile. You have to find what works for you.

I find that nibbling on natural nuts, seeds and fruit is better than those fatty snacks. Try soya nuts (they're really nice) and experiment with different fruits. Make a nice bowl of all kinds of things up. They fill you up too so that you won't want chocolates.

Take a magnesium supplement - this will help to stabilise your blood sugar levels and help to curb cravings.

That's just it,each time i think i've found something that works for me I still end up back where I started. It's like I give up even though i'm losing pounds just because I can't physically see any changes. even getting compliments from family wasn't good enough because i just think they are "being nice".

Yup! Vitamins and supplements. The supplements do help curb the cravings. I also have tried to find triggers that cause me to want to hit the fridge. Unfortunately, the hubby can't go!! lol But, try to keep the mind occupied, hobbies, kid.

Lizzi---Oprah had a guy named John Green, don't quote me on that about eating the right kinds of foods that boost your metabolism. Also, I believe he talked about foods that help to curb your appetite. He has a book out about the topic. Perhaps you can look up on her website and find info about it. I know any kind of green veggies are extremely good for ya. As for the fruit, they do have alot of natural sugars in them which your body breaks down quickly. If you eat fruit, eat it with the skins on b/c the skins are tough and thick and takes makes your body work harder at breaking down the fiber to get to the sugars. Stay away from fruit drinks like apple juice, etc..... They are loaded high with sugars. Raw veggies are your best bet for snack food. I was getting into the habit of eating raw veggies with veggie dip. Although, the dip isn't that great either but at least I'm eating them. My sister-in-law cut her calories down to 900 calories a day and has lost 40lbs. Although you have to be strict with yourself. If you eat nuts, I was told cashews without salt or just plain dry peanuts with no salt. The salt will cause you to retain water. I swell up like a balloon the next day if I have too much of it. Plain yogurt is good, too. I like buying the kind with blueberries in it. Plus, try eating foods high in protein. Like fish & chicken. Aldi's sells good tasting salom patties that I like to bake with some mesquite seasoning and a touch of lemon juice. Just suggestions.

Thanks everyone for your input. Tweety,I used to do an 800 calorie a day diet years ago but that was a different kind of life for me back then.My husband was gone out more than he was home and Curtis was just a baby so basically I only had to feed myself so eatting small portions of just the right stuff was easy bacause outside of formula for the baby I only bought food for myself. Now it's like I have to buy what they want to eat and by the time that's done I'm usually out of money to buy healthy things for myself so i end up eatting what they do and none of it's diet food in any way, shape or form! They are all about things like spagetti, cheeseburgers, tacos and pizza. In fact that's what we eat most of the time which is everything I DON"T need. I have a strong suspicion Larry doesn't want me to lose weight. He tries to push food on me all the time at night especially!

Lizzi, bombing your diet is like an alcoholic drinking again.

Please dont beat yourself, because you will just get depressed and start eating too much again. You had a LAPSE. Not a RELAPSE. So you made a little slip? Big deal, just pat yourself on the back that you have made it this far, and continue to watch your eating......take up where you left off.
