So Silas goes through phases where he'll only eat one or two specific foods...when he was younger it was yogurt and grilled cheese(not together)
I used to cook carrots and mash them up into his grilled cheese and into his yogurt just to get him to eat some form of vegetable.

Now he's on a chicken fingers kick. That's all he friggin wants!
And grapes, he loves grapes and eats them every single day. Always asks for more.
Sometimes he asks for pasta and I try to sneak veggies in there but he's wise to it now.

How do I get all of the right nutrients and vitamins into him if all he eats is chicken fingers and grapes?
He's still too little to make him sit there until he eats what he's given. He doesn't understand and I don't want to ruin foods for him by making them seem like a punishment.

Guh!
Babies...so adorable yet so frustrating sometimes.

How old is Silas?

Joey is 13 months and has always been a great eater, loves everything I offer him. Some days he pushes his food away and I just pretend to eat it myself going 'MMMMM' and dancing round to make him smile and laugh and he then eats it.

But then all babies are different.

He's almost 20 months.
It used to work for me when I'd pretend food was really good or super fun to eat, he's too smart for me now! ha ha.

Sometimes it works when I sing the "Party in my Tummy" song from Yo Gabba Gabba but only sometimes.
He usually just starts dancing and singing instead of eating.

He's eating a grilled cheese right now so maybe this means he likes them again and I can smuggle carrots back into his food without him knowing.

Believe it or not, mashed carrots in a grilled cheese sandwich is pretty good.

omfg!!!! the story of my fkin' LIFE!!!!!!! my kids go through phases too...ALOT!!!! they had a REALLY bad phase not too long ago...don't remember if you remember reading about all that. anyways....i went to the doc about it, and she didn't seem concerned AT ALL....they aren't losing weight. she even had a mother that came in all frustrated cause her kid only wanted to eat things that were white!!! lmao!! anyways. she suggested that while going through their phases, just give them what they like to eat, give em a multi vitamin or something, but STILL offer them the things they are being picky about. and throw in the odd dinner of ALL things they are picky about.

and basically if they didn't eat their dinner, they went to bed hungry. plain and simple.

soon...my kids realized that they weren't eating a whole lot of food, and were hungry all the time. so now they are actually eating what i give them. they still have nights where they refuse...but i'm not a fkin' buffet. if they're hungry enough, they'll eat it.

it was a slow process, and frustrating as all hell, but they are FINALLY eating food that i'm happy with them eating. Anika still hates butternut squash, but Lex is loving it now, whereas 2 months ago, he wouldn't touch the stuff with a 10 foot pole. lol....just put in the odd push, and they'll come around.
