hubby got the weekened off so we went to the Kootenays to visit some of his family....he has way too much family there, so we didn't have time to visit all of them but oh well....we stopped in and saw his baba on the way to his dad's house. we got to his dad's around dinner time....put the kids to bed, and enjoyed a bania.....omg you guys....it's soooo neat.....a bania is like a sauna, but it's wood heated....it was built like 30 years ago, and they used to use it as their bath house. hubby's dad sometimes STILL uses it as a bath house. hubby even remembers as a kid, sitting in the little basin of water...it's VERY rustic, but i swear it's better than the saunas around here....anyways....we sweated it out in there for a bit....had a few too many drinks and then got up early in the morning, and went fishing. the fishing spot we went to was absolutely beautiful....oh and Anika loved the ride up there...she kept saying "we're going for a bumpy ride in the jungle book!!!!!" lmao!!! with all the trees and stuff she thought it was the jungle book!! lol...anyways...the fishing was AWESOME....in total i think we caught about 12 fish....plus about 8 that were too small and had to put them back in the water....we just kept catching them and then just fried em up and ate them right there....can't get any fresher than that!!! :-) the kids had a blast there...i think anika spent most of the time throwing rocks into the creek...lol....and Lex wanted to play with all the fish we caught...ha ha...
then sunday, we had a blintze breakfast and then drove home....that part...not so fun...the kids didn't want to be in the car anymore....poor things...it's about a 5-6 hour drive so they definatly had had enough...lol... ↓
