The baby blackbird is doing fine.

I took it with me to work yesterday as I was at the nursing home. I brought it inside and we all helped with feeding it.

I've found out what kind of stuff to give it and I'm going to go to the Bird Sanctuary next week so that it can be with other birds and eventually be released back into the wild. It's too young at the moment to do this - so I guess I'm its surrogate mum for a few more days.

I'm sick of the damn cat!

It's like Animal Hospital here!

The bird is eatin' lots and seems healthy. No injuries. I've phoned a bird sanctuary and got some really good advice from them.

We used to have a cat like that...mean little bugger : ( Used to bring us all kind of half dead stuff that I would try to nurse back to health. Birds, squirrels, mice, chipmunks...one time she even brought us back the neighbors kittens LOL!! They weren't hurt...she just stole them.

We have a baby starling that we've rescued...he's hiding under the trough pot we have...he flew into the conservatry window bless him. He's so cute...he's just fat and fluffy! He seems do be doing okay...he's just too scared to fly away we think...he hops around the garden and flies short distances...but he's just not strong enough to fly up and over the fence.

Are you feeding him Nicola?

Yes...he's having suet balls which he can peck at + the raisons and bird food he does usually. He's absolutley fine now...alot better...he just cant fly over the fence. His mum comes back every evening and feeds him herself...even though wev seen hiom feed himself.

Awww...how cute!! Most bird moms abandon their babies if something happens to them. What a lucky little guy!

Doing well.....

Hopping around the container like crazy :-D

I've located a woman who takes fledglings in and places them into the aviary until they're ready for release back into the wild!

I'm taking the birdie over in a few days - once he can eat by himself :-D

hey Atomic......I have the most skitterish cat (she was badly abused before we rescued her) BUT she is the best hunter!! I sure wish she would stop bringing dead snakes into our yard!

Aw, cats are the worst damn things! I love my cats, but this youngest one is always killing mice and then this latest bird incident.

I'd love to rehabilitate it and release it by myself as I have a fair idea of what to do, but it wouldn't be safe in my garden due to the damn cat!

*LOL*

I'd rather have dead mice than dead snakes! *LOL* YIKES!!!!!!!!!!

here's an awful story........I was about 12 and dad found a baby bunny while mowing our lawn (massive yard....almost 3 acres) anyways the bunny was injured so he and I made it a little home in a box with some shredded paper and tried to feed it a little and keep it warm....it seemed to be responding so I kept it in my room so I could keep and eye on it......WELL that night I had the worst dreams all night that this MASSIVE white bunny rabbit with HUGE, RAZOR SHARP TEETH kept trying to eat me......it was awful....well guess what? When I woke up in the middle of the night I was so frightened and all I wanted to do was cuddle my new little bunny rabbit who was so soft and furry....so I reached down into his box and............he was stone-cold dead!!!!!! OK it is an awful story.......but I warned you.
