Hello ladies ~
Ok some of you know me and some of you don't. Anyways i have a question for you all. I have an almost 4 week old daughter. I'm going nuts because of all the weight i've gained, all of it in my stomach, hips and thighs. My question is what have you all done to lose the pregnancy weight? and what I can do that is effective but short on time, considering my lil one is up every 3 hours to eat. is there a way I can incorperate her into my workouts also? I live in Ontario canada, so we're into the winter season, so it's not always the warmest to take her out side. any help please

Invest in a treadmill if possible and use it when the baby is napping or even when she is awake. You can also do sit-ups and push-ups and jumping jacks and run in place if you can't afford equipment,I know it's costly if you don't already have one. Also you can go on a low calorie diet. I did an 800 calorie a day diet years ago and lost weight pretty steadily on it. I also did alot of walking too and worked out with dumbells regularly. Drink crystal light instead of soda if you don't like water, that helps alot too.

Just remember that it took you nine months to gain that weight, so it will take you awhile to lose it. That was my problem, I wanted the weight gone right away and I would get discouraged if I wasn't loosing weight fast enough.. I honestly just waited. With both my girls, when they hit 6 months the weight started coming off on it's own. Do you have a fast metbolism?

You can also try some water pills, they may help you lose some quickly too.

Water pills can be alittle dangerous. If you are really worried I would talk to you dr. at you 6 week check-up. Maybe he/she could give you some ideas.

Christina, If you don't mind me asking, how much did you gain with your pregnancy?

You had a baby 4 weeks ago, and your worrying about your post pregnancy body, for starters, Id give if a bit more time for your body to bounce back.

Christina,
To boost your metabolism- eat 5 or so small meals a day, and do not skip breakfast, and do not eat at night time.
Your metabolism will speed up becasue your body will know it is being fed often enough, if you only eat 2-3 meals a day and they are big meals for 1 your body can not burn the calories you are consumming and 2 if you do not eat breakfast your body is going so long between meals that your metabolism slows down to starvation mode.
4 weeks having your baby is soon to be worrying to much about weight, it takes about 6 weeks just for your body to recover.
Are you nursing?
And like momof3 said, it took 9 months to put it on, it may take a while to take it off.
Good luck

all i have been trying to do for the last two years is loose my baby weight and guess what... alll i have done is put more on.lol. its so hard.
although i do think you need to wait a little longer before you start really trying, maybe now just start eating healthy and in a few weeks introduce a bit of excercise then work your way from there.

momof3~ I gained roughly 30-40 lbs during the pregnancy.

Winnmom~ I am not breastfeeding anymore.

I realize that it takes time for your body to heal and recover, i'm not saying I want to loose weight right away I know it's going to take time for it come off. I"ve been battleing weight my whole life so i know that. I was just hoping for some tips and advice as for what all you ladies have done to get the weight off or to become healthier and any ways i can incorporate my daughter into my workouts, considering i don't get much time before she's awake again.

Eating a bunch of small meals i agree would definetly be better then 1 or 2 big meals each day. I don't get much time for breakfast though let alone any other food through out the day. My lil one won't lay down alone for more then 15-30 minutes on her own if i'm lucky.

Christina - I was concerned about losing the 31 pounds I gained during pregnancy. After the birth, I felt like a blimp and was just as uncomfortable as during the pregnancy. I managed to lose all the weight during the first 8-9 weeks, and have lost an extra 10 pounds over the last 3.5 months. I walk almost everyday, and eat small meals several times a day with lots and lots of water. I am also breastfeeding which I must say has helped tremendously. Apparently, you're supposed to eat an extra 300-500 calories a day while breastfeeding to keep up milk production etc...well I have to say I just cut out those extra calories and it really helped me with the weight loss. Not sure if this was a good thing to do or not, but my milk production wasn't affected, and my boy is getting enuff 'cause he's most 20 pounds :) It took my sister and sis-in-law about 8-9 months to lose their weight tho, and I have heard this is common. Patience and exercise would be my suggestion. I used to live in Toronto, so I know about the weather. I'd try walking with her in a mall if at all possible so you both keep warm and dry. Good luck to you!
