I had the same as a merina but without the hormones for about 6 mths. This is only my experience - I had infections for the whole time, and for about 4 mths after I eventually had it taken out. They are meant to be really good if your body wil accept it but it is a foreign body so sometimes your body rejects them - hence what caused my infections. Advantages are that they stay in for 5 years - yay no contraceptives - you cant feel it at all. All I would say is if you are going to get one go to a sexual health clinic where they put them in all the time - that way it is more likely to be in the correct place. They say also that if you are prone to things like thrush then you might get infections too. I used to be totally hopeless taking the pill which is why I now have two children - love them to bits tho. My partner also hated using condoms infact I didnt like them either they gave me thrush (sorry too much information) but after the I U D I had to take the pill because I've had my share of children - so now I know this is my only option I take my pill religously every day!!! ↓

| Even tho I had a bad experience with it I would still say give it a go because if it does suit you then thats one less thing you have to worry about. The I U D has a copper string in it that stops the sperm getting past - the merina has a hormone that is the same as the pill but releases slowly over time and I'm pretty sure there is a different one that is like a spermicide. I chose the I U D because I wanted to give my body a break from all the hormonal stuff going on from being on so many different pills, the jab and being pregant twice in two years. So I guess its just whatever suits yur lifestyle. ↑ |

| thanks so much, id be hopeless at the pill again i think, i was on it 12 years before my kids.. but i think id forget it now.. Hubby and me dont like condoms either. i ve only had thrush once that i know off and no other infections.. Iam going to the doctor in about 4 weeks so I will ask him then about it., in the meantime NO SEX!!my poor husband.. id get pregnant for sure.. it only takes us once to fall pregnant were prety lucky think thats why we have 4 kids under 4..lol thanks! ↑ |

| lol - you poor thing - 4 under 4 !!!! I thought I had it tough and I only have two!! Gee I dont know how you'd even have the time and energy for sex with a new baby let alone 4 kids! But on the merina thing I reckon it's a really good Idea - and definately worth a try since you and your husband are so fertile (you'r in the same position I was) - maybe one day I'll give it a go again once I feel like my body has settled down again but the pill I'm on at the mo is sooooo good. My periods are only 2 days long (if that) and really light. ↑ |

| thats what i want. no periods, it was so great not having them for the last 3 out of 4 years casue i was pregnant all the time.. we wanted 4 kids though and close in age! I get time, i clean in my sleep though lol... I mowed the lawn on my due date with my 3rd baby! yeh i know iam crazy but overactive.. ↑ |

| With the I U D you still get your period as if you had no contraceptive so you're outta luck there! lol The merina gives you your period just like you were on the mini pill. Yeah I'm happy to have my kids close together as well - I dont think I could do the have one wait for 5 years and have another, thing. Jeepers thats ten years of preschoolers for me - 20 for you -- scary! ↑ |

| te he - I dont think you're crazy - I think it's great to have them close together - hard work - but great. My Mum had 4 under 4 and of course we fought growing up like everyone else does tho - but now we are all really close and with both my pregnancys both my sisters were pregnant too. Mine are 14 mths apart and that was a real blessing when Lucy was born because Haley was still sleeping twice a day and did so till she was about 20 mths old - phew - made it so much easier. And she was too young to feel any jealousy towards Lucy she just treated her like a precious wee doll. Funny wee thing! ↑ |
