My almost 9 year old daughter informed me tonight before supper she doesn't like leftovers and won't be eating them ever again......and we hardly ever eat leftovers anyway.....regardless she's now sitting at the table with a piece of leftover pizza in front of her. Everyone else ate probably 1/2 hour ago. How long should I leave her sit there? I told her to not get up until she eats it, but I know her, and she'll sit there till bedtime!

I find that it's not worth battling over food. Just take it away and if she complains that she's hungry in a little while, just giver her something boring to eat - like bread and butter and an apple or something.

Well, if she's not that hungry she won't eat it. I spruce up my leftovers....add a little of this and a little of that so they won't be the wiser. However, I tell my kids that if they don't eat their main course meal, then no dessert like ice cream.

I just checked on her and she looks so sad....I told her if she eats some of it she can go to the neighbors to sell girl scout cookies. If that don't work i guess your right and I should let it go....she's been acting like such a brat lately though.

Perhaps she's not really hungry right now. I tell my kids to eat when dinner is ready otherwise kitchen is closed afterwards.

I tell my son that if he eats ONE mouthful of whatever it is then he can get down from the table.

Yeah, try bribing them.

Atomi--sounds like your son is going through a growing spurt. My 8 year old is doing the same thing. Plus, he's tired alot.

Yep, I make my kids try it at least. If they truly don't like it, I won't force it.

ohhhh I'm so mad now. I went out to tell her she could go play, and I caught her feeding it to the dog.

My son is hyperactive! He's like the Duracell Bunny.......he just keeps going and going and going *LOL*

I can't believe how much he eats though. Every half hour he's asking for food.......sometimes we can't leave the house because he's asking for food and I have to give him something before we go.

He's not fat nor thin.......he's just hungry!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wonder if girls are worse than boys.

Oh I hope not. I have 2 boys.

Morgan and Gabe are only 18 months apart so I'll probably have both of them going through it at the same time.

I'm not that mean. I never make them eat something I know they don't like, try it yes, but she loves pizza. She was just testing me.
