I owe my dad some money which we are planning to pay him out of our income tax when we get it in mid february. Well then i started thinking that we owe nothing on our Sears and have enough money on it to pay my dad now with it!!!! And then when we get our tax money i could pay Sears back in full!!! Good or bad idea?

I didn't even know you could get money off a Sears card.....If it was me I'd wait for the refund bacause I'd end up not paying off the Sears card and just making payments. Then you pay more back with interest.

That went over my head....hehehheee. i worry myself sometimes with how little I understand the world of finance. but im good at saving and dont owe any money and have got 700 pund for me saved up, 5 grand for uni or a car saved up for me, and so far 400 each for the twins with 50 pound each month going in each of them... and its all MY money which i love so much!" makes the slave labour for 4.30 an hour worth it!

Sears is a department store. They sell tools, clothes, things like that.

Yeah Dana,Sears has a cash access option but the interest rate on it is 26.40%!

Nicalo....We have stocks too, but i don't understand them at all. We just kinda let them ride, someone told my husband not to even worry about them till like 5 years before you retire. Is that what your supposed to do??

Well, if your dad is waiting to get paid back when you get your income tax money, then wait until then. Otherwise, you will incur the finance charges on your sears card until you get the refund. Don't spend anymore extra money when you don't have to.

wow that's a high rate

I just got my mum to talk to her financial advisor. My mum buys 50 pound of stocks/shares every month for me/bro/sis each and will do till we're 18. then its up to me to do what i like. but im too frightened to even look at them! we dont have sears in uk i dont think!

Wow that's high. We had a sears card when we got married for the household appliances, but we paid it off and I cancelled the card. We wanted something a few years back and reapplied for one, but they said No because we cancelled one. i guess that's a no no in businesses.

She always lectures me on how important it is to save now, while i have no car or mortgage, just a little rent (she says its a little but £80 a month...mind you there is 3 of us) but that covers petrol for taking me to work and food, bills and the occasinal babysit if the creche is shut.

Oh and Nicola, they say it's not how much you make that counts,it's how much you save that matters!!!! So you are doing SUPER!!!!!!!

If it were me, I wouldn't do it. I would tell my dad he was just going to have to wait the one more month.

Yeah, the big thing with credit cards is to not cancel them. Even if you have a zero balance, it still helps to improve your credit score. However, make sure you don't have alot of cards because that will bring your credit score down for having to much credit accessible.

Yeah, I heard several times to pay yourself (savings account) first and then everything else. If you keep the habit going, you'll have enough money saved up to payoff the things that you need to.

Dana you should enquire about it again if you still want it because since you left in good standing they should be more than happy to issue you a new card. Maybe you talked to someone who doesn't know what they are talking about, that happens more than you know! I can't see Sears turning someones money away and turning down a sale!

Tweety if i was going to pay myself first,i'd have to put it in account where i could deposite but not withdraw for 20 years!

Anyway i probably won't do it but I was thinking about it because my dads starting to get impatient and antsy!

We ended up getting a Visa with around 7 % interest rate. it was a lot lower rate anyway.

thanks lizzi! im well happy, bjt James does pay above what he should for the maintence for them which really does help me. but I help him alot. we kinda are a team in a way...we do sit and think/chat about whats best for the twins and we do have huge arguments, but i just got to say "Your lucky im here!" and he'll blush and apologize no end! i feel so dominant. hehhee, now i know where Poppy gets it from. Shreiking, shouting, screaming, slamming, throwing things...she's like me in my teenage years which worries me as she's not quite 18 months old yet. and Day, my little oddball, my resevered introvert opposite. but she can squeal...good lord!
