Have any of you had this procedure done or know of anyone who has? I just went in today and had a biopsy of my uterine lining done and if all comes back o.k. then I will be having the uterine ballon therapy done. My reason for it is I have extremely heavy periods when I'm not on the pill but because my tubes are tied I really don't want to take the pill anymore so I'm hoping this is the answer. My dr. thinks it's a good idea too. So has anyone else had this done? Did it help?

Lizzi what exactly is that? I know it seems like it would be a balloon inserted in to the uterus, but some times things aren't always what they seem.

I looked it up myself. I copied the info for others to see.

Using the balloon therapy, global endometrial ablation is performed under local anesthesia as an outpatient procedure. Heat is used to remove the endometrial lining of the uterus, which is the main source of excessive menstrual bleeding. A balloon catheter is inserted vaginally through the cervix and into the uterus. The balloon is inflated with sterile fluid, which is then heated to 87[degrees]C (188[degrees]F) for eight minutes. After treatment is completed, the balloon is deflated and the catheter is withdrawn and discarded. The entire procedure typically takes less than 30 minutes. Following the procedure, an over-the-counter, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug is given to patients to relieve pain. Patients are usually able to resume normal activities the next day.

I wold just rather have my uterus removed. That would solve the whole problem. Plus... no more periods ever!
