Are ya lookin' for another job?

Name: Nicola | Date: Feb 22nd, 2007 10:05 AM
yeah. I've applied so many times to so many places. got some tips from some of the girls which im going to try.
I turned down an offer at a chipshop, it wasnt as suitable as it first sounded and they were paying a penny above the minimum wage and Im on £4.80 an hour at mcds with a payrise on 4th March and It doesnt make sense to jack in that job, though I hate it, and work in one that pays less and they want me to work alot more. I added it up and it averages out the same in each pay check really. ALthough I hate one of the guys I work with and they think my voice is funny so copy me constantly I really dont think I should just quit again...Iv done that twice already! but they wind you back in!

Hey Nicola!! I am trying to understand what you mean.. I was hoping you can educate me cause I know nothing of UK lingo either.. hehe reading you and the Aussies sometimes is a foreign language to me.. lol!

so what are A levels?
what is a GUM clinic?

Name: Nicola | Date: Feb 22nd, 2007 10:29 AM
gum clinic is a sexual health clinic

a-levels are what you sit from age 16 till age 18...I dont know what the US/AUssie equivalent is but i think the A stands for advanced...lol

i get muddled between langugaes too....do americans have SATS at 16? we have GCSEs then and SATS we have at 4,9, 11 and 14 which are just for the school's league boards really.

In USA... SAT stands for standard achievement test and we start taking it in like 2nd grade (age 7) and every year after that until 11th grade. The main test we take to get into college/university is called he ACT and you can take it starting in the second half of your 10th grade year until you graduate so a total of 5 times to get the best score you can.

we dont have "grades" in the uk

you're called years, when you start schoool your in reception, then year one, two, three four etc...you can leave in year 11, go to college or opt to stay on and do a-levels like me

And Poppy was just fiddling with the knobs on everything, fiddling with my ipod, fiddling with the hifi, fiddiling with the tv...she was even picking the tape of off the DVD player (the other day a biscuit went in it so its taped up until we need to use it to stop it from happening again!)
Theyr asleep though. awww almost makes you forget....grrr lunatic children!
It was a good night though....there was a big bust up between my two best friends though so no doubt both will ring tonight crying...

lol i know what you mean though
yeah...i wont be doing that in a hurry...you got gimme some slack...im 17 that was my first proper binge session!

Name: tubbybubble | Date: Feb 22nd, 2007 1:48 PM
lol...here in the states you have to be 21 to drink..i know it's different in the uk...no...stupid me was just having fun..it was the first time i actually went out with the girls for drinks since i had turned 21...i may drink a glass of wine here and there (not now)...but nothing more...nope....oohhh, thoughts just came flooding back....makes me feel sick..haha....ooohh, and i also had to go to work that next night...haha

the age is 18 here.
If they made it so it was like Greece/etc where its kinda custom to give your children alkie I think it would cut on binge drinking..theres a big issue with that here. I should be prime minister. Id rock.

Name: tubbybubble | Date: Feb 22nd, 2007 1:56 PM
lol...you know...when my hubby visited germany a couple of years ago...he swore to me that there were 12 yr olds drinking over there...over there he said that there is no drinking age...that drinking isn't a bad problem like it is over here...i thought that was really neat.

Name: Nicola | Date: Feb 22nd, 2007 1:59 PM
yeah thats what we need really
I give my kids alcohol...not excessive amounts but if I dont they'll just help themselves lol....theyr lambrini girls..they have a little bit off my finger and theyr eyes almost pop out and you get "MMMMMMMM" and bouncy baby syndrome..then they head for the glass, tell them "AHAHAHAAAAAAA no!" and they stop, and usually Poppy will try and do it when your not looking. crafty cow. funny though I love it.

VOTE NICOLA to be your prime minister, even if your in america....vote for me...no drinking laws! woo yeah (slightly sarcastic woo yeah though)

Name: tubbybubble | Date: Feb 22nd, 2007 2:03 PM
haha...over here it's a huge deal...since the age is 21...there's always something on the news about underage drinking...i guess since it's forbid until 21 teens just want it to rebel and say...yeah, i got drunk last night or whatvever...but in germany, my hubby says that the laws are more strict about drinking than over here...that's why no one does anything to get them in trouble

you got my vote...haha

Name: Nicola | Date: Feb 22nd, 2007 2:07 PM

Name: tubbybubble | Date: Feb 22nd, 2007 2:07 PM
well, congrats!!! are you buying??

Name: Nicola | Date: Feb 22nd, 2007 3:29 PM
im not...
Paul is. We're moving in together. I was looking at places to rent, but it seems silly wasting money each month when it oculd be going towards something that is yours so I decided to stay put with my mum but Paul asked me to move in with him when he's bought a new house and well, I said yes!
Its a beautiful 5 bedroomed house in the estate opposite where I'm living now so still so near my school and we know its a friendly place to live up here so we're pretty happy with it. We got a bargain too as they wanted a quick sale. But yeah...we're all very excited. Theyv gone already and we've spent the last 6 weeks ish decorating it to make it pretty for us. We're just waiting for the building work to finish, we're having the garden landscaped and a conservatry built on. its going to be very nice. your invited over for a cup of tea! lol
