I am a single mom of a four-year old assessed with ASD. I currently reside in Toronto, but I wish to move to a smaller community, perhaps within a two-hour drive from Toronto, so that I am not too far from family. I'm hoping that other parents of children with ASD might share their thoughts about their community, and, in particular, their schools and the resources available. What do you like about your town? Do you feel your child is receiving adequate services from provincial agencies and school boards? My child currently attends JK at a Catholic elementary school here in Toronto and has an EA every day. I feel very fortunate about this, but we cannot afford a decent home here and I really like the less-harried, friendlier feel of a smaller town. I hope you will share your experiences with me. I'm looking for a decent place to set up house and home for the two of us.

Can I suggest you go to a website called autism chat and share. A lot of the parents are from Canada and could give you good info on what is available http://groups.msn.com/AUTISMCHATANDSHARE
