Hello everyone, I'm a first time momma, I'm almost 21 weeks pregnant (so far to gooo still)
and I plan on breastfeeding!! Anyway, I've noticed in my there are these yellowy, whitish stuff I in the pores of my nipples. I gently clean them out and then there's little wholes or small craters left behind. Do any of you know what I'm talking about? I'm just wondering if it's the colostrum maybe and it stops there and starts to dry or something. If any of you know what I'm talking about please respond, I'd appreciate it!!

These are called Montgomery's glands. The substance they produce is actually a lubricant for breastfeeding. Try to leave them alone as much as possible, this is natural.

I have the same thing on my nipples too! My husband was like what is that?Did you not wash? I was like I think it is the milk just buliding up for when the babies are born.(were having twins). I think it is normal, but you could ask your Dr on your next appt.

It's very normal.

I haven't experience that. I am 20 weeks. Does this mean I won't be able to breastfeed?

Thank you! I haven't messed with them since I read this. Good thing I didn't just take my friends advice! I had one tell me that she'd take a wash clothe and scrub her nipples to get all that out, expecially when she got closer to her due date. She said she was preparing her nipples for breast feeding. I heard though that you shouldn't have to do anything as long as you get proper help to make sure the baby latches on correctly.
