I have a 21 month old and she got a cold and now I have it and i'm trying really hard not to give it to the 5 week old, Any advice? She's on my breast every 2 hours and refuses to sleep anywhere but on me or beside me. Also how will i know if she's sick? she sounds congested but her nose is not running nor does she have a fever. help!!!

well since you are breastfeeding her its likely that she won't get the cold at all. if she does it won't be as bad as yours. once you get sick your body makes anitbodies to fight of whatever kind of cold or virus you have these anitbodies get passed through your breastmilk to your baby. so the antibodies will help her not get sick. if she does then her body will have a "head start" on the cold because of your antibodies. hope i made since typing this, i running on 3 hrs of sleep. all i have to say it teething babies suck!

do u pump at all? if so then you could pump a few ounces of milk and give it to your older one in a cup, then she would get the antibodies too and help her get over it sooner. hope some of this helps.
