It's better to keep the milk separate. At the very least, make sure to get the new milk to a similar temp as the milk in the fridge. Don't add room temp (or warmer) milk to the cold milk in the fridge. It'll encourage bacteria growth.

Yes, you can. You can also pump into chilled milk. Here is a link with this info http://www.breastfeed-essent

It was once believed that you had to chill milk before combining, but this has been shown not to be the case. HTH.

It's ok to add warm milk to that which is refridgerated. It will have to be used within the time limit that is specific to the original refridgerated milk.

But do not add it to milk that has been frozen.

Freezing and then defrosting breastmilk alters it in a way that shortens it's 'shelf life' and it then needs to be used up within a 1/2 hour. Adding warm milk to frozen will defrost part of the frozen milk.

You can add breastmilk to milk that has already been defrosted, if it will all be used up within a 1/2 hour, but anything remaining will have to be discarded.

I have read in a pamplet on breast feeding that it is not advised to add new breast milk to stored breast milk. I think it has something to do with bacteria.
