I thought I was having a miscarriage this morning. Shortly after having sex with dh I started having heavy bleeding and it was bright red. I went to the ER and they found the babies heart beat but it wasnt registering on the dopler, so they did a pelvic exam, the er doctor couldnt find the baby doing a reg. ultra sound sohe tried a vaginal and still couldnt see anything. He called a ob dr. down from the maternity ward and had him do a ultra sound he found the baby and the baby was fine moving and the heart beat was 154. I was so happy. I am RH- and they think my body is trying to fight the baby off so they did the rogam shot then. I am at High Risk for having a misscarriage right now. Anyone ever have this happen?

I am not RH-positive and wish I could help you in this area. I believe Nicole Miller is though.

I just posted something for Nicole.. I know right now she is having some complication with her pregnancy but hopefully if she is able to get on she will be able to help you out.

I am Rh neg. too, but I haven't had the same issue yet. This can only happen in either second pregnancies or after some type of trauma that causes your babies blood to enter into your own.

If you got the shot then you should be fine from here on out. You'll get it again every 12 weeks and then again directly after giving birth.

If it was caught soon enough after transferance happened then your baby should be fine. The biggest risk to baby from RH disease is anemia because your blood may have attacked baby's red blood cells.

Is this your first baby? How far along were you?

I am Rh Negative too. My first pregnancy i had a miscarriage, but i don't know if that was the reason for it. They were doing pelvic exams and ultrasounds and couldn't find the baby, then the doc did a D&C after and he couldn't find any placenta cells or anything in my uterus, so he's assuming that it may have been a tubal pregnancy. My second pregnancy I got that rhogam shot once before birth and once after birth and everything was fine. Now I'm pregnant again, so they'll probably do it again!! :-)

as nicole said this usually becomes an issue with the second pregnancy because you bidy has had time to build antibodies aganist the pos blood. Even when dr;s know that you are rh- they usually don't give the rogam shot right away. They will wait until later in the pregnancy. It sounds like you are still pretty early if they were having a hard time finding the baby. Unless you have been pregnant before or unless something happened where the baby's blood entered your blood streem I wouldn't think that your body could have had time to create any anti bodies that would attack the baby. I guess try to take it easy and hope for the best. Good luck to you and your little one.

This is my second pregnancy. I had the rogam shot with my daughter at about 28 weeks and after delivery. I am 13 weeks 4 days pregnant right now. They were having a hard time finding the bay because the ER doctor didnt know what he was doing so they called down the ob dr. who found the baby quickly

I'm rh- aswell. And as long as you had the shots that you where susposed to with your first pregnancy, this one should be fine and healthy.

Its only if you dont have those shots at 28 weeks, 32 weeks and after the birth ( depending onthe babies blood group ) that you MAY become risk to miscarraige.

But as you said you had the shots, you have nothing to worry about.

Believe me i did alot of reasearch and talked to PLENTY of doctors about this.

It's pretty unlikely that your bleeding was from RH incompatibility then. It's standard procedure to give you another shot after any bleeding though, just in case.

I wouldn't worry to much because my step-daughters mother bled (large amounts) all through her pregnancy and everything turned out just fine with her. They never did explain it.... but she's perfectly healthy (she's 14 now). Her mother also went on to have 2 normal pregnancies 5 and 10 years afterwards.

i was just reading some thing in a preg book like 10 min ago about that. its a really good book and answeres so many questions... its called What to Expect When Your Expecting by Murkoff Eisenberg and Hathaway. but bleeding can be caused by the sensitivity of the cervix. the engorged blood vessles make make your cervey much more softer and deep penetration can occasionally cause bleeding. particarly in late pregnancy when the cervex tends to ripen for delevery. and as long as your dr says that the bleeding is not due to any potentional complications that requires abstinence simply avoid deep penetration
