Hi everyone. My husband and I are trying to get pregnant again and are a bit more impatient then the first time (took over a year). I've always had irregular periods. Has anyone else with irregular periods had any luck with store bought ovulation tests?

I was regular for a long time and then for some odd reason my periods started becoming irregular. I went from being 1 week late to 2 weeks late to not having my period at all one month. My husband and I used the ovulation test strips but had no luck with them. I ended up going to the doctor and started charting my temperature. After 2 months of charting my doctor put me on clomid and diagnosed me with Secondary Infertility which apparently is VERY COMMON.

Thanks mom2Be2007. Are infertility treatments, like clomid, covered by most insurance?

You would have to actually talk to your insurance companies. My husband insurance covered my infertility treatments. More and more insurance companies are starting to pick up such procedures. Some will only cover them if they are done in the doctors office. My husband insurance covered Clomid but if I would have had to do injection I would of had to have gone in to have them done in order for them to be covered.

I had very irregular cycles before going on the pill about 10 yrs ago, but when i went off the pill last Feb my cycle didn't come back on it's own. I was diagnosed w/ PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) and took provera to get my period again. During this time I started charting my temps. I had one spontaneous period at 35 days and the next cycle I used ovulation tests and ovulated on CD 26 and got preg! I'm 23wks preg now :) If I hadn't been charting and using the opk, I wouldn't have known when or if I was ovulating.

thanks again mom2be2007! I'm currently late (if there is such a thing when you have irregular periods), so looks like I need to visit the doctor anyway. My husband and I are planning a big move acoss country a year from this summer and we would really like to add to our family while we still have friends and family close to help out with the exhausting newborn phase. Plus with my husband's job, I'll basically be a single mom during the week and don't want to be juggling a newborn and toddler on my own. We really want to be pregnant by early summer.
