braden got his 6 month shots on the 23rd. and since then he has been eating less and sleeping more. he really only did this before on the first day but now its been two days and it has me worried. the doctor is already concerned bc at 5 months he was 16 lbs and now at 6 months he is only 16.2. so now im like ugh.

normal?

sorry

Evelyn did the same thing coart. her eating habits change every other week. for example, this week she doesn't want ANYTHING to do with solids. i've had to super puree her food to a liquid consistency so she'd eat something besides formula for at least breakfast. also, at 8 months she decided she didn't like the regular enfamil anymore. so i switched her to enfamil next step and she loves it.

although not likely, does his doc think he might be anemic?? maybe that's why he wants to sleep more??

I wouldn't worry Coart... their weight gain slows down SO much. Kaden was 17lbs 3oz at 5 months and only 18lbs at 7 months. Less than a pound in 2 months. It slowed after he started crawling and you said Braden is trying to crawl... He is burning more calories now.

As for the eating less and sleeping more... he could be teething. Kaden has been doing the same lately and is about to cut another tooth. It hurts to suck and to chew. This is what happens everytime he cuts one.
It could also be a reaction the the vaccines. His body needs to fight off what little virus there is in there to build up an immunity. If he was already starting to come down with something it can make it worse.

Can you try another formula? I have tried different kinds and the only one Kaden will eat now is the Isomil Advance. It's soy but he won't drink any of the other ones. It also is a different make up than the regular Isomil... he doesn't get constipated on this one. It's actually the exact opposite. This is like breastfed baby poop. Yellow and explosive LOL

awww i remember haylee would get like that after her shots...i actually preferred she didnt eat much the next couple days because everytime she did shes throw it up, but the doc said some just react diff to the shots....but if there was a fever or rash involved it could be an allergic reaction....as far as the weight goes, cant help ya there lol haylee was a little porker, i think she weighed close to 25lbs at 6 or 7 months, but like randi said their growth starts to slow down...haylees did lol i was afraid she was gonna weigh 50 lbs at 12 months!! hahaha but that wasnt the case everything evened out....watch now he'll have a growth spurt and shoot up like a weed lol

randi, thats what is mixed in with the nutramigen, thats the only soy ive ever used is the pinkish red can the isomil advance. he'll eat tons of solids but im thinking it is his teeth or something bc sucking on the bottle bothers him, and i put some formula in his sippy cuppy and he loved it, but i didnt let him drink alot out of it, i tricked him back to the bottle. hes just been crankier lately too but it seems to be wearing off. its just probably so much at once hes just wore out.

Make sure and try to feed him formula before offering any solids. Solids are still practice for the real thing at this age, the nutrients baby is getting to grow come from breastmilk / formula until the age of 1. Also any and all of the things you have mentioned effect eating patterns (the big move, introduction to new place, teething, mama's funky feelings, shots, etc.). Just hang in there. It looks as though 6 months and 16lbs is in the 50th percentile so he is not starving just keep an eye on everything like you are doing.

On a side note: Did you say you were from MA? Holyoke area? I can be a ding dong so sorry if I have you confused with someone else.

i do i feed him the solids and formula at the same time. not one before the other, if i cant get him to drink the formula right away i give him a few bites of whatever it is i smashed up and then he gets thirsty and drinks and then eats and then drinks. hes been eating more today just like half a bottle at a time but still got his 32oz. plus if im offering up formula dn he doesnt want it, he needs something so i usually give him some avocado bc it has polysaturated fats and its very good for him, so something is better than nothing. yanno.. and yes i was raised in holyoke massachusetts until i was 13.

Kendra was like that for a few days. As for the weight it doesn;t sound too low to me. Of Course kendra is a fat ass 18lbs, but the dr said that was in the 95th percentile, so I can;t inagine that 1.5 lbs less then that is super low.

I guess that's what I get from forming an opinion about a town while driving through at 75 mph. LOL! Well at least it looks pretty, all the old stone and the rolling hills, from 91.

Coart -- after Ian's four month shots I swear to God he slept for two days straight and barely ate. I was sure those shots were pure poison and there was something wrong with him. Now he's fine. He goes in for his six mo check up in another week so I'll see if he reacts the same way.
