Does any one here bring their dog to a doggy park? I do...I have a Doberman who loves to run of leash with the other dogs. I get so much entertainment watching him frolic and play with the other dogs.

I don't agree with dog parks. We have a huge back yard tho and we have a few friends with the same breed that come over to play. I like the controlled environment. I know and they know what signs to watch for, and we know our plan of action should a fight break out. I know all the dogs that come over are healthy vaccinated and trained. I don't have any old screwball in my yard that can't control their dog.

You are right T, there are many people that go to the park that have no clue of the signs to look for. As of yet I haven't had any real issues with any other dog. Thats not to say I wont eventually! What I do really like is the socialization he gets with the other dogs. I don't know a lot of people with dogs, so for me to get my own play group going would be impossible.

we went to a dog park over the weekend for a Halloween dog pawty and it was fun but i agree that some of the people there should not have brought their dogs not only did people have dogs they couldnt handle themselves there was one group who brought 4 dobies (i do like the breed please keep that in mind) and the adults couldnt keep them from fighting amongst themselves so they had kids walking two of them. and two of the dogs had injuries to their front legs and were miserable because of the cold. then they took them to the off leash portion of the park and let them loose and they tried to eat a little dog. i generally dont take my dogs to off leash parks we opt for the creeks in the area and a couple small human parks (my dogs love the toddler equipment) but i think that if you found something that works for you and there arent any cat toys around have fun

Cherisalorraine ~ Lol!!! The cat toy thing was cute!!!!! Yah..the park I go to works well for us and our dogs. There is usually the same crowd with the same dogs. Occasionally a new dog will show up and that will throw the whole pack order of, it doesn't take much time to get things back in to order.

Not only do I love to meet the other dogs but you can learn so much from the other dog owners just as they can learn from you. It makes a great socializing event for both the dog and human.

i dont htink it would be much of an issue for me to take my girls to a dog park but i also dont think that i could keep an eye on all of them at once and to get to a dog park here is over an hour drive so taking them one or two at a time wouldnt work either.but i think that they get plenty of stimulation because we go to events and a lot of on leash places. not to mention that i am getting ready to have my third therapy dog certified so they get people time all the time . by thew way do you know what the laws are in vermont concerning pitts i cant seem to find any on here and i am going to vermont to take a tour of ben and jerrys and do a few other things and i will have all the girls with me except the old foster dog and that means 2 pit mixes one american pitt and one staffie pup and the coon hound(i dont think is very threatening unless the peple are walking their pet racoons around though)

I'm sorry I don't know the laws for pits in Vermont. I would think if you are only visiting there wouldn't be a problem. What you may want to do is call ahead to the towns animal control or town hall and ask about it.
