Morning momof3. I have it easy...2 shepherds and an english bulldog. Just throw 'em in the tub. They take care of cleaning each others ears...yuck! I would like to know how to get rid of tear stains on the bully though. Someone told me to make a peroxide paste and leave it on his face over night. I don't think I want to get peroxide that close to his eyes.

Hi momof3, I just had the boys groomed Monday. (poodle & maltese) They go every 3 mos. and by that time they are pretty nasty and needing it bad! LOL!! Mom's the only one that can get near them...lol. It costs us about $60 for the both of them.

See. My oldest dog will not let us groom him. SO we started taking him to the groomer. I just took him on Saturday and took Nika (my 6 month old puppy) for her first groom. It cost me $74 for both. Which I didn't think was to bad. Toby is 3/4 German Shepherd and 1/4 lab. And Nike is 1/2 German Shepherd and 1/2 lab.

Momof3 I will wash your dogs for 50!!! My dogs go in the bath tub at home. Tyson loves to take baths. I can't go potty with out him following me and jumping in the tub. Miss Lady Beagle on the other hand I have got to chase down and tie her in. The new puppy doesn't mind at all.

I will shampoo my dog but when it comes to the clipping I will have her done at the groomers.

My bathtub is upstairs, and my dogs will not go upstairs!!!! We have tried to bribe them with treats and everything. So I either give them a bath with the hose and have the water be COLD, or I take them to the groomer.

Very smart of them to associate going upstairs w/getting a bath! I get out smarted by my pack at least once a day.

It isn't that they avoid the stairs because of the bath. :) Toby has never gone up stairs, the vet and trainer think something happened to him as a pup. So he is scared of anything his feet leave the ground. Normally you have to lift him in the car to go anywhere, but when I took him to the groomer, he got right in for me, and when we got home he didn't want to get out. He would jump out, look at me and jump back in.
Nika, I think doesn't go upstairs because Toby doesn't.

Dawn, what kind of Shepherds do you have?

Name: Dawn C. | Date: Mar 1st, 2007 9:06 PM
We have 2 akc german shepherds, max-9, angel-4, and a 1 year old english bulldog named tank.

We have had 4 german shepherds in all. All but Angel have had serious health problems. No more akc shepherds for me!

Both mine a mixed. Love them to death! Toby's mom was 1/2 german shepherd and 1/2 lab, and his dad was AKC German Shepherd, he looks like a skinny german Shepherd, Nika is 1/2 and 1/2. But she looks more like a lab, and acts like it too!!

LOL! Labs are goofy but so lovable!!

She is goofy alright!!! They are so different. Toby is REALLY laid back, and doesn't play with toys, he just loves to lay by you and cuddle. Nika on the other hand, Holy Crap, it is like someone stuck a wind up toy up her butt!!! She is crazy!!!

LOL!! Our shepherds are laid back too. Angel will catch the ball as long as you keep throwing it. Days maybe...but other than that she doesn't cause trouble. Now Tanker on the other hand is a real crackpot!! Love that little pup to death! My son and him got into a "fight" over a piece of pizza and both ended up sliding across the hard wood floors into the wall. LMAO!! Both hard heads came away without a scratch but I have some sheetrock patching to do now! LOL!

Like I said Toby is really laid back and doesn't do anything unless Nika is bothering the kids, and then he will pull her away by her head or what ever he can grab. Nika is just a pistol. That is the only way to explain her.

But that would suck!!! Having to fix drywall!

That would be Toby's german shepherd genes shining through. Very protective over children/family. When I babysit my neice, we have to put them away when mom comes to get her. LOL! The 2 shepherds back the girl into something and stand in front so mom can't touch her! I'm like NOOOOO!!...let her GO!!

I am very good at patching sheetrock...and other things! lol! My house has seen many years of football players tromping through...the big oafs...when they get riled up something always needs fixing! LOL!

My babies are still young so I haven't had to worry about that. YET! Toby is my baby boy. Ijust love him to death. He is such a good dog. How many kids do you have?

Name: Dawn C. | Date: Mar 2nd, 2007 8:55 PM
2 sons-19 & 24. The oldest is a step but I have had him so long that I usually don't refer to him that way : )

I have a stepson who is 6 almost 7 and I have been in his life since he was 10 months old. He calls me mom, (he choice) and he in my heart is my son. Then I have a 3 1/2 year old daughter and a 1 1/2 year old daughter.
I love animals and I want my kids to as well. So far the only animals they will tolerate our theirs!! But they love their dogs and their kitty and fish. My oldest daughter, when she gets scared she wants Toby to sleep with her, but he won;t go up the stairs!
Do you have Myspace?

Good for you! I know some families have problems when they blend. It's not always possible for some parents to love their child more than they hate thier ex. Here everyone put away their differences...thank God...or I would be missing the other half of my heart! Mom of "3"...not 2, I like that!! I'm surprised you haven't found her cuddled on the couch w/Toby!!

No I don't have my space. I'm a bad mommy...I usually just break into my sons and go from there! LOL!
