I have 2 Guinea Pigs and I notice that they have black flakes on them. The black flakes come off while I brush them. What could that be?

All the time my guinea pig (rodney) chews on the metal bars on his cage for long periods at a time. It is really annoying! Do you have any advice on how to stop this?

Dear Karen,
You should let the guinea pig know that it can trust you. Then the guinea pig will probably let you hold he/r. It's probably frightened.(or else stubborn! LOL!)

I have 3 males and one female.
and the female loves to have her hair cut, and yes she does purr.
which means she loves it.
but is it possible that guineapigs can bark? because mine do.

dumb question! how long doest my new quinea pig need to stay in her habbitat(house) before we can let her run around the house in her ball?

Name: lindalu | Date: Feb 10th, 2008 2:31 PM
Caryn ~ No question is a dumb question! You can start him/her in the ball as soon as you get him/her. The more you put him/her in the ball the faster he/she will get use to it. When you first introduce him/her to the ball he/she will probably poop a lot but, after a couple times of being in the ball it will get less. Also try to get a clear ball not a colored one, they have a hared time seeing through the colored ones.

I have six guineapigs and I love them i had one guineapig at first and she was great but i thot she was Ionely so we fond some people who had some guineapigs and we got one and thay said it was a girl and so that was great cause we don't want any babys and it was going great untill we saw that the first guineapig was geting big and so she had babys and so we fond out that the second one we got was a boy and she had three guineapigs and we don't want any more and we don't know that we had to put them in different cages or a hour after she had the first litter she can try to get some more and we didn't know at the time and so we had the three and after thay was old enough we gave two away and ceped one and about two mounths later we got six more but tree died and so we love the ones we got

My Guinea Pigs Favorite food is also apples. When he purrs that means he is happy. When a Guinea pig is nervous he is a kind of ball and doesn't want to move.

If your scared that your guinea pig is getting pregant so much you should try removing her from the other cage. It depends on how old she is and how much food she ate before she was pregant. If she scratches any of the other guinea pigs you should really remove her from that cage!!! If her eyes start to get watery she is in alot of pain! :(
