My beloved cat Nathan is being put to sleep on Saturday. He has been showing some aggressive behavior towards us lately. I have tried to ignore it. But he bit my husband last Tuesday in the arm. We have a 4 1/2 year old daughter and are planning to adopt another child soon. We brought Nathan to the vet but he cannot be put down since he just bit someone. We did try hard to find him a home. We have to wait 10 days to see if rabies develop so he cannot be put to sleep until next Saturday. I am heartbroken and sick over it. yes, I have to protect my family, but I loved this cat so much. He's only 6 1/2. I will be there to hold him when he dies so he passes peacefully from this life into God's arms.

I am so sorry to read of your delema. I do have to say ...have you thought of bringing him to a shelta? I understand he has bitten but dont you think he deserves a second chance. After all he may have been having a bad day he could be stressed over some thing un known to you. I just dont think it is fair to have him pute down because of a single bite. I had a cat that had the attatude of the devil he bit many times over his 18 years. Each time was because he was coaxed or beeing messed with. Often times he was just beeing a cat biting in a play full manner. Some cats will bit on occation and maybee only once in a life time. If this is the only time I would reevaluate the decision of having him put to sleep. It sounds like you really care for him...... please dont be quick to sentance him. If you dont feel comfortable with him surrender him to a shelter at least he may have a chance to live out the rest of his life. Good luck with what ever you choose to do.

ok.......he is not sick, he bit you once, or twice, and your putting him down? have u even thought that maybe something is bothering him? maybe he isnt feeling well. is he neutered? male cats show signs of sudden aggression during when they are looking for a mate every year. that just means you give him is space for a few weeks. maybe he was being playful . maybe he was spooked by somehthing falling . i htink you should go to another vet. if your vet doesnt give a full examination, and just goes straight to putting him down, then this is a crappy vet. your just going to kill your beloved pet cuz your vet said to ? i think you should just give it to a shelter. they work with animals , and many feral cats, and wont put them down. at least he would have a chance to live out his life. GOOD LUCK but if you want my opinion, dont do it. dont put him down

Unknown- Have you had your cats thyroids checkeed? It is quite possible his beeing thin could have to do with a hyper thyroid. If it is, it can be treated with meds.
