For my kids I always do play first, then sing Happy Birthday, open presents and then cake. Then the kids run around and play some more. But my kids parties, the guest that are kids are kids of our friends and the parties will start at 2pm and the earliest it has ended was 9pm and the latest was 2am. Have a great party

My son's 3rd birthday is coming up this February. But I usually do eat (this is if your having a party during lunch time or supper time), I let the kids play, then we open presents and finally eat cake. But I don't think it really matter what order you go in as long as it run somewhat smoothly and all the kids are happy.

I usually plan for at least 4 hours give or take because the party usually consist mainly of friends and family and their kids so birthday parties are like catch up time for us...
