Well, I guess that is my point about Iran and the conflict between Isreal and the hezbollah is that their culture and ideas about democracy and what it means to be a good citizen of the world (rather than this ancient "honor at all cost" mentality) has to change before there can be any peace over there - which is why I agree with what is going on in Iraq and trying to establish a more democratic and "live and let live" as someone put it society.
I really don't care if Saddam had any thing to do with 911 - the man was a menace and needed to be taken out of power. He was killing his own people - all you pro lifers should be appalled at that. It seems the US is always trying to make things better for other countries and people of the world and all we get is a bunch of crap for it and personally I am tired of it! ↑ |

wilsavanamom....here is something to ponder. Wars in the middle east have been going on since the begining of time. This is not going to end anytime real soon either ...i am just imagining. Sooooo, since the war at the moment is not anywhere really at all near being finished........so the eagle has been awakened?!?......but if I am not mistaken...pretty soon Bush's term is over. That war is not complete.......your troops are not all home and free. Just maybe....its the next president....or since we no nothing of the future......it could be many presidents later......the eagle has wakened.....but I dont believe good ol boy GW is going to be the be all and end all of what began.
As for poor Laura.....oh yes actually I am glad someone mentioned the fact she looks so tense when that boy speaks. I too have seen the tension....fear......utter possible dismay...at what is going to come flying out of his mouth next. Oh...I do feel for her somewhat. My golly. ↑ |

Oh.....yeah....what should have been done after 9-11...well since wars are still fought with bombs and nasty things of that nature...and not the unground intelegence....like someone brillently suggested....and I mean that, not being flip......going with the way it has always been done........let me see if I recall correctly. WMD was the topic of discussion right after that.....correct?....and that went on for a while along with strong words on the issue from George. Forget the WMD longwinded bs. We all know many countries have the capability to blow up anything.....so what did that reeeeeally have to do with anything? Point is......terriosts were sent on a specific mission. Your nation was attacked......get to work on targeting the attackers. Naturally once you have for certain pin pointed who is responsible. As far as I am concerned....that was just a stall and bs tatic to give Bush time to concider just how he was going to protect his empior....of wealth....and look good at the same time. And I think the first Bush should have finished the job the first time around and removed him from power. However there are many, many countries like that. Maybe so - but I don't think we should turn a blind eye to these other countries either - problem is we are only one nation with limited resources. In my opinion, other countries need to step up to the plate and start helping!!! It's always the US who takes the lead in really trying to make a difference. Even if he had other motives - it still think it is a good thing.
P.S. We are using underground intelligence also - but I think it is going to take an overall change in attitudes, cultures and governments to stop the breeding of suicide bombers etc. ↑ |

Ok let me try again.....i may have misunderstood your post wilsvanamom...the part about the Koran and the 9:11 passage....one of the comments made was .."do you not get the meaning?" Nope Bush.... and his handeling of the entire issue. Unfortunately....he is the figurehead of the US. But his whole approach and taticical ways along with his embarassments.....are not worthy of that superpower position. Just deal with the issue at hand never mind personal agendas and get to work.
No... no country ought to hide there head in the sand......when it comes to such issues as discribed....and in places like the Sudan. For my country....its a bit of a joke even hear about any kind of armed force.....what force? Though those that are volenteering their lives and they are so few in number.....I have the upmost of respect for. My point ....what could we ever do except send what we have. Other countries....just are war torn on there own fighting their own battels. Africa for instance is riddled with cival unrest that for each of the continents independant nations....has torn them apart for years. They are wrapped in there own...slotters and starvation. Some countries just part of me thinks is really in no position to help.....or at least not to much. America is a SUPERPOWER. As a result.....they get involved...thank God. But as for 9/11 it was your country that was directly attacked. Period. In this case.
The intelegence game...it is being used I know that too....but I beleive it was said origionally in a manner that suggested....use it only..get the actual powers that be....make them the sole targets. They have the ability...but the wars are still fought with traditional methods. The ability needs to be practiced. And you are correct......it would take a great deal of covincing those that need to be and have them all in agreement...before that is ever going to happen. When you send airplaines into towers of inocent people......you get someones attention...and that is exactely what is intended. Its war...those are the games of war...to make the other guy feel crippled and crushed. I believe the other way is best for those inocent people who live in fear themselves....but it wont happen.
Superpowers, whoever they may have been throughout history...have either started a war....or come to the rescue of those attacked. For the resucing superpowers......angin thank God Otherwise Hitler would have had his way...and good gosh...where would any of us be today. ↑ |

There is a certain protocol to war. One of being....we must be attact by another country. That wasnt Irac. and yes we are sorry to hear people being murdered and raped we are not cold blooded jerks here. But this war is illegal period. Now because of this we dont look very good to other nations. All this is so important in the long scheem of things.
But this forum I started because I had concerns about the middle East and the Bible.

It was America that was attacked because we most represent what they despise - western culture and democracy. Don't think that because they didn't attack Canada that you are not part of their overall target. This does pertain to more than just the US.
Just getting the powers that be is not going to be enough - there will just be another. Bringing democracy and tolerance for other cultures and beliefs to the area - maybe just one country at a time is what, I think, needs to happen.
And I still disagree - I don't remeber 911 ever being the only reason we were going into Iraq. There were (I think) 11 resolutions from the UN and Saddam was ignoring every one.
Well - it is dinner time here and the kids are giving me grief. I don't think I changed any minds, but mine wasn't change either! Anyway - it was good debating the issue with you all! No hard feelings, just a difference of opinion. ↑ |

By the way, why is this politics of your country so spotted? There is an absolute identical situation in the world: a muslim country is being besieged by a Western country that vows to bring there the Western order. Yet USA critiques that Western country and requests that Muslim country be left alone to self-determine its way. How come? That is Chechnya and Russia I'm talking about.

Like many I know exactly where I was when I first heard the news. I will never forget the souls of that tower and every rescue worker and every greaving face I saw on tv. And those who I did not see.
