Paula,
Yes it's Ok for a 20 y/o not to know those things.
1. You must be ovulating to get pregnant
Ovulation is when your Ovary releases an ovum (egg),
without an egg there can not be a baby.
2. "Normally" a woman who as a menstral cycle every 28 days
will ovulate on day 14 (give or take a day).

So, if your period started on May 1 2006, the most likely day to get pregnant would be May 14 2006. But, since everybodys body is a little different if you are trying to become pregnant you would want to have intercourse May 11, 13, 15. Sperm will live 48 - 72 hours, and by having intercourse everyother day it gives the male a chance for the sperm numbers to go up.

You may want to pick up a ovulation detection kit at the store, if there is a specific time frame you want to get pregnant during. The "average" is with a healthy male & a healthy female trying to get pregnant each month you have a 1 in 4 chance.

3. There have been cases where women have gotten pregnant while on there menstral cycle. So, if you don't want to become pregnant always use protection of so kind.

I hope this helps.

That puts you having sex approximately day 11-13, so theoretically you could be pregnant. Why don't you pick up an pregnancy test kit at the store, if it says Pregnant you'll know for sure. There is always a chance for a false negitive, your HCG hormones may not be elevated enough yet. So, I would treat myself as if I were pregnant avoiding alcohol, tobacco, & start taking some over the counter pre-natal vitamins if your not all ready.

good luck
