oh yup again we know that feeling....stems from FEAR! In the end....you do what ya gotta to save them from themselves or form hurting someone else. Its that old.....hurts me more than you thing......but crap.....if ya gotta ya gotta. They NEED to know about the dangers of things like that. You can tell them nice......but if you find that failed......you do what you have to do. Fear.....in the eyes of the child, from a wild and frantic mother......utterly snapped and on a tangent.....works good once in a while lololol!

hun if you would have just had a "nice" talk with him calmly and in a nice sweet voice then it would be just like saying "you have to make sure that you pick up your toys when you are done playing ok sweetie" now does he always remember to do that??.....I be he doesn't and there is no way you could risk the chance that he would "forget" they way he forgets his toys. I am sure that you feel bad, but you made a huge impact and that is exactly what needed to happen. He will never ever ever think about doing something like that again because he will remember your reaction. Plus if that is something that is not done often in your home he will know that it must have been a very big deal. Try not to be too hard on your self you didn't do the wrong thing at all.

OMG.....i wouldn't feel bad....he needs to understand just how serious the situation was, and I think just a little hey, don't do that, i don't think would get the message across....if I were I would have done the exact same thing!!! sometimes you just can't be a softy.

I don't blame you one bit!! How scary!! Thank God she is okay!! I agree, had you just patiently told him, it would not stick and could happen again. At least now it will stick in his mind!!

Yep I know.. He is a pretty good boy anyway.. The only thing I can see him doing is wanting to help all the time... I know he wouldn't do anything to harm the baby...

That would scare the crap out of me too. Thankfully mine never tried anything like that with each other, but I've caught Gabe with his head in a plastic bag once and I really left him have it. I think it's good to scare them enough they remember not to do it again. I'm glad everyone is OK!
