ALSO, what do you think would be the best type of product to sell?

What exactly do you mean by drop shipping companies. I do a lot of home businesses, and just saying "drop shipping" I have no idea what you mean! I would suggest any company you look at check out there BBB report etc. There are good opps and bad, free and investment. Here is my website you can see what is there:
http://www.micheles1stopshop.com

Stuff a friend is free to join and the others are all very cheap to start up.

I refer people to a health and wellness company, but I have seen you talking against them in the past, so maybe that is not for you.
I also sell candles and that is very easy! Chocolate is good and stuffed animal kits. The easiest and best for me is consumable products...be it candles or personal/health products that people use up, this sets up residual income for you, and you are not starting at 0 every month. Mela gets me the over $100 pay every month consistantly, followed by the candles. The rest are really just supplements for advertising budget.

drop shipping is where you set up your own website and sell a certain product, but you don't have to stock it yourself. Another company supplies it all, and ships it to your customer. so there's no stocking or shipping of any kind on your end...you just have to concentrate on the running of your site and promotions and marketing and whatnot.

i just don't like MLM...that's all....someone was trying to tell me that Melaleuca isn't MLM when I know for a fact that it is, and they were using scare tactics to promote their product...that's what i don't like.....i'm all for health products for sure

There are good ones and bad ones.
Melaleuca does that, they just ask we use their products so we know what we are talking about when we refer.
Mia Bella candles does that as well, although you can stock and sell them if you like.
Stuff a Friend is like that too, however as I said that is not consumable and how many stuffed animals to people buy.

There is a difference between MLM and network marketing. Pretty much EVERYthing you find to do at home is network marketing of some sort. The difference with mela and MLM is many MLMs (true ones) have "breakaway clauses" that means if someone you enroll does better than you, they break them off and you get nothing. This encourages people not to help others do too well (in case they get ahead of them). With mela you don't get anywhere without bringing others up with you. It is different, but a "stepchild".

as for scare tactics, that was probably a newbie that does not know how to approach it. I did not know a lot about the stuff I was using, but am open to being educated about natural products and willing to get new info. I find the product approach works better if someone comes to you about it first.

some woman came on here and basically said if you don't use this product you'll get cancer...that pissed me off and for that reason I will NEVER buy their products!!

my step mom sold Melaleuca products and to be quite honest, they didn't work as well as we would have liked them to work!

I put tea tree on my toenail and it got rid of the yellowness.

I am sorry to hear that, and that is not usual. I have found them to clean better than anything I have used before. That is why they have 100% money back guarantee and stand behind their products so much. They are all very concentrated, were they diluted as directed?? I can see there would be film if they were not diluted properly as it would be too concentrated.
Anyway I respect your opinion however there are others that I mentioned. Please check out the websites and let me know what your interests are.

Oh and as for Mat leave, I sympathize! I was a nurse, yet only got 60% of my salary when on leave AND had to pay my own benefits when my paid time off ran out!! You must be in the US. The other countries like Canada and UK think our health system is crazy..and they are absolutely Right!!

US has the worst of any developed country. Our gov't does not care about health care or women and children, just the businesses. A big drawback to our captalistic system.

I'm from Canada too michelle. but while on maternity leave i got pregnant again, and I need 600 hours of work to qualify again for mat leave. So i won't be getting maternity for this pregnancy...

Bummer!! :( I guess each system has it's downfalls.

i could have gone back to work early to accumulate the hours but I didn't want to have Anika with a babysitter so young. all my family is too far away. So....my own fault....it's ok though, we're excited about the new baby....it's just that money will be tight. It's just hard to find a product to sell that doesn't require a minimum initial order. i was looking at large cupped bras...like good quality ones that are bigger than DD....like e-jj....but the most reputable company wants an $4000 minimum opening order!! i can't do that!! oh well....

Name: homemommichele | Date: Feb 21st, 2007 11:58 PM
WOW!! As I said go to the website. Mia Bella candles only requires $39.95. There are a lot of good (besides my main one) companies that I do that bring in a paycheck monthly, but do not cost an arm and a let to start up. My newest is Lavender Love.....Only $25 one time start up and that is it!! Free website to do all online and take orders, company sends all. The only purchase requirement is something once a month either ordered from your site or by you....it can even be a sample!!

but honestly...is there a big market for selling candles online? when I can go to the local store and buy them and not have to pay shipping and wait for them? i'm not arguing...i'm just wondering, out of curiosity. I just can't honestly see a big market for candles...maybe i'm wrong... ???

Name: homemommichele | Date: Feb 22nd, 2007 12:05 AM
Yes, there is. People are really loving natural candles that don't make any black soot when they are burned. Yes, you can go to the store and get them, but they don't smell longer than a short time (ours are triple scented and last), and leave soot all over, burn through the middle only which ours don't....it's just a higher quality. You can also do things like fundraisers. I am doing one for my sons school this spring. Also many people (like myself) have really gotten to know a lot of wahms online. When I need anything anymore I would so much rather patronize a mommy like me than a big corporation like wal mart.

Lavender Love was started by a mommy who found a way to use lavender to help her migraines and made a home business out of it!!

interesting...are you allowed to sell it on Ebay?

Name: homemommichele | Date: Feb 22nd, 2007 12:14 AM
The candles, no. We are allowed to market the wah opportunity but not sell the candles on e-bay. You can however sell them in local shops on consignment, which is what I do.

Lavender Love I am not sure about e-bay, but I can find out for you. I know you can advertise those products on a personal website though.

yes.. i think ebay is tremendous opportunity, and would like to do something where they allow me to use ebay.
