I just had 2 people ask me down town " is he crawling yet"

I'm.....no he is only 4 months old..he is only now starting to roll around and kick himself accross the floor..

They gave me werid looks ..It felt like they where implying there was something wrong with him..

He is a strong smart kid..i know it...i just didnt think they where susposed to be crawling at 4 months. My friends kid is 7 months and he is only now attempting to crawl. :(

Do i do something to encourage him? am i doing something wrong..idk..i bought him a winnie the pooh "walk along with me" doll...it walks and runs and falls over..it makes the kid want to chase after it..either crawling or walking..he is intrested in it..but no attempts made to move and get him from a distance

arghh idk if im overracting..i feel like im failing him..especially after 2 random people talked to me like that today :(

I don't think they start until later Sarah. If they don't then I am behind with Kaden as well. He can roll from back to tummy, but not tummy to back and people think that is strange. He can sit up all by himself, but he isn't even attempting to crawl.

Anika didn't crawl until she was between 8-9 months. Dont worry and tell all them assholes to shove it!

Yeah, he can sit up by himself. I think it's b/c of the bumbo chair I got him. His pediatrician said 3.5 months (thats how old he was when he started) is really early, but he is a little late for rolling from tummy to back. He is backwards lol

It really depends....Morgan was 11 months, she rolled everywhere, Gabe was about 8 months, (I think around 7-8 months is pretty common), and Luke was crawling at 5 months, he looked funny, way too small to be crawling around, but he was running around at 10 months....had to keep up with the siblings I guess.

Sarah, Kaitlen is 5 and a half months and has only started to kind of shuffle along thrusting her legs behind her, it's not a crawl, and when I leave her on her tummy, she moves around in circles to the left and reaches out for toys as she is going around (it's so cute). She has only rolled a few times from her tummy to her back by accident

Yeh oliver rolls from his stomach to his back..by accident too.

He does have a tendacy to roll to his side..its so cute..thats when he looks like a turtle :) melts my heart

When Morgan was small she would roll to get where she wanted, it was so cute, she should have been dizzy from the way she would go.

when a kid is determined to get something, they will get it anyway they can...the rolling probably dodn't make him as dizzy as it would have made an adult. I remember rolling like an idiot when i was a kid, down hills etc, and I don't remember it bothering me, but now...forget it.

didn't make HER dizzy, sorry Dana

frankie has only just properly started to crawl in the last 2 days, and hes 9 months and when he was 6 months people were ask me that, its well annoying.its like give the kid a chance.but people are so competitive like yeah my kid crawled at 2 weeks lol , i read in the paper a couple of weeks ago about a kid that walked at 6 months, frankie couldnt even sit up on his own at 6 months, lamo,i used one of those walk with me things as well but he still did a belly shuffle for ages, we will always get these people who will say arent they doing this yet ..or arent they doing that and they just put ideas in our head that ours should be doing the same and they all go at different paces but 4 months would be well to early i think so dont take any notice of those people.

some people should think before they make stupid comments like that to a young mother. I'm always freaking out that she's nt developing properly, especially when I read about people whose babies were walking along furniture at 6 months..there is No way Kaitlen will be doing that at 6 months, I still have to wrap her arms in bed

What do you mean wrap her arms?

Name: jaxjos | Date: Apr 20th, 2007 12:17 PM
I kind of half wrap her now, not fully. I bought a "sleeping bag/grobag" thingy and her legs are free in it, but I use a wrap just around her arms and shoulders because she still whacks herself in the face and won't sleep with them out. I don't know how I'm gonna get her out of that..I have tried but she will not fall asleep with her hands out

Name: Dana G | Date: Apr 20th, 2007 12:20 PM
I saw those grobags, they look nice to keep them warm. I never wrapped my kids' arms, so I have no idea how to get them out of the habit, but I'm sure as she gets older and starts to toss and turn maybe she'll free her arms herself. I just threw a cover over them, and I had one of those things you lay them in to keep them on their side.

I only started using the grobag this week and she has slept beautifully in it. It must be keeping her nice and snug

Name: jaxjos | Date: Apr 20th, 2007 12:26 PM
I have tried wrapping one arm and leaving the other free, but nope, still keeps trying to rub her eyes and grab her ears or suck her fingers, which completely distracts her from falling asleep

I would think she'll grow out of it. How old is she?

Name: jaxjos | Date: Apr 20th, 2007 12:45 PM
23 weeeks or 5.5 months

Name: Dana G | Date: Apr 20th, 2007 12:47 PM
by then mine were tossing and turning all over the crib, so I don't know. Put it this way when she's 10 if you still have to wrap her up, I'd worry...lol...I don't know where you live, but maybe when summer hits (it's winter here) she won't want covered up.

Andrew craweld at around 10-11 months.

Name: jaxjos | Date: Apr 20th, 2007 1:00 PM
lol dana!! Yeah, hopefully she will grow out of it soon. We are just going into winter here (i'm in australia), so when it was summer, she was the age when u should be wrapping her

Emilee just turned 4 months on wednesday and she is rolling over and making circles around her blanket, but she makes no attempt to crawl. I think every baby is different, I've never heard of a 4 month old crawling though.
