Posters were published all around stating what she had done. That was after the boyfriend encouraged and paid for it. He did it as revenge for her leaving him. He kept posting these posters for months--she cracked and slit her wrists! They said something like--she was a babykiller with a picture of her--a naked picture of her! I will never forget this. She lived in my college dorm. It was devastating. Apparently her boyfriend was very abusive. I decided right then and there that no matter my views on the subject--I would never judge anyone who has undergone one. I personally would not choose to have one--but who knows if I had been that girl I might have!

I can't imagine anyone doing that. it's sad, I knew some girls I went to high school with had them. No one ever mentioned it though. I was pregnant in high school so I know it's hard, but Icould still never have an abortion.

Two of my college roommates had abortions. They asked me to go with them and I said no.

They never talked about it afterwards. I told them I just could not go with them.

I just think that some women who have had them beat themselves up enough over it that they do not need to hear from me how terrible a thing they did. I certainly am not going to say something to one of them that pushes them over the edge.

Who knows who reads this forum--maybe one of those women are reading this right now.

I would never judge anyone who's has an abortion, it's just not something I would choose to do. I didn't think this post was even about abortion I thought it was about preemies feeling pain.

sarah--I don't think you have followed this conversation. It is very long--you would have to be with it from the beginning to understand.

Oh ive read through it, you had a friend experience it with a horrible outcome.

DO you think though..that just words made her commit suicide? you dont think it was some of the guilt she experienced?

I think it was a lack of support combined with the mental anguish from the abortion and the harrassment!

This was over 20 years ago--things might be different for your generation sarah.

I know there apparently seems to be medical research..but M like i said..( not a friend of mine - she was a local ) Had a premmie 24 week daughter. You cant tell me , that little miricle didnt not experience any pain until she clicked over to 28 weeks

Do you honestly believe that?

I dont know if they are......when i did get pregnant when i was 16 my parents where forcing me to have a abortion - i went to the clinic and they wanted me to see a councellor etc before the procedure and i think it was up to me if i went and got professional help later on afterwards.

I, of course refused..i would never ever live with myself if i did have a abortion..it would eat me up inside. And these days..it seems like everyone is having abortions..i dont know how many people i know that have already done it..some MULTIPLE times..it disguts me to be honest...( mutliple abortions ) So i guess to say it like this, its become more socially acceptable.

Oh and what REALLY pisses me off.......one women who had multiple abortions.......later in life decided she was ready for a family and because she had 2 abortions previously it screwed with her "baby making material" so to speak..so i had to listen to her for MONTHS whining she couldnt get pregnant..i just sat there and listened and thought...well maybe you deserve it.

Harsh i know

yes sarah later it can affect fertility and ability to carry a healthy baby to term. This is what I replied earlier that started much of this. You are disrupting a normal process. It only makes sense.

I DO NOT judge others. That is for them to live with and them alone. I can hate the law, the procedure and the doctors that perform them without hating a woman who made IN MY OPINION a sad choice.
I would rather see (for the umpteenth time) more resources financial and otherwise so many do not feel it is their ONLY choice. How many of those M...who went on to commit suicide, may have not taken that route had they felt there were other options?? They obviously felt that was their only and best choice, weather they liked it or not. How about if they felt supported and cared for Before the abortion, how many would have made a different choice????

READ ABOVE SLOWLY:
I CAN ABE AGAINST THE PROCEDURE AND THE LAW AND THE PROVIDERS THAT DO IT WITHOUT JUDGING OTHERS.
JUST LIKE I CAN BE AGAINST THE WAR IN IRAQ AND STILL SUPPORT OUR TROOPS FOR GOING OVER THERE AND DOING WHAT THEY ARE TOLD TO DO.
WHY DON'T WE DISCUSS ALTERNATIVES SO WOMEN DON'T FEEL THIS IS THEIR ONLY OPTION???

M - you have a hell of a lot of faith in the medical professionals! Do you think that Scientists and Doctors get it right ALL the time. Do you think that they're infallible???

Doctors used to prescribe medicated cigarettes for people suffering from asthma in the 1940's!

Doctors make a hell of a lot of money from performing abortions - of course they're going to maintain that the fetus doesn't feel pain before X many weeks! They have a LOT to lose if women start realising what abortion really entails for their developing baby.

You think that doctors and scientists aren't corrupt? That drug companies don't fake drug-trial results etc. etc. etc.???

My God, you're naive!

I've worked with dozens of incompetent doctors. I've witnessed mistake after mistake made by these people - we just shrugged it off.
