I thought the womens liberation movement was all about giving us the right to make choices for our lives. I really hate the divide that seems to exist between stay-at-home and working moms. One side of the divide always thinks it makes the other side look bad and vice versa. It really is quite stupid. It seems like the liberation movement divided us all in the end.

Paulus - You couldn't be more right on that. I have found that many (not all) SAHM's are sensitive about the fact that they stay at home especially if they have college degrees. My working mom friends are very open and discuss how sometimes we wish we didn't have the added responsibility, but yet feel we are making the right decision. Granted my friends and I do not put our children in daycare except for one. I remember how when I was going back to work, the lack of support I was getting from my SAHM friends really was upsetting. My WM friends gave me lots of encouragement. I'm involved in the local MOMS Club and the moms really look down on you for working and act as though you shouldn't be in the club if you work. So, those of us who work feel we can't mention it in the club. I've talked to other members and they are in the same boat. Isn't that rediculous??

mommyswker,
I read in an earlier post that you are a social worker. I read a post in the stay-at-home mom board regarding spanking. A woman was wanting to know what we thought about "smacking" her word, not mine. I was the only one who thought it was wrong. Maybe, you could offer your professional advice on that board regarding the subject.

My hubby and I are trying to fall pregnant (find out in a few days if this month is successful or not... Im thinking unsuccessful). As someone who works, and works with a lot of working mothers I would say that the women in your neighbourhood are just plain jealous, I agree with the others, have the occassional brag about how great work is going and also how fortunate you are to be able to spend so much time with your bub... the perfect balance :-)

You need time for yourself. Don't be pressured by them.

I go through the same thing. I am in the ARMY and all the moms around me are home all day. Just let it go they dont know what goes on is your home . I f your kids are happy and you are happy that is all that matters.
