Does having a baby hurts really really bad? How about Epidural?

Name: to Jiliana | Date: May 23rd, 2006 4:44 PM
giving birth hurts like hell, get the epidural, it doesn't hurt and you will actually enjoy your labour, there is no prize for going all natural

Not as bad with an epidural it doesn't! I have done it with and without and will be personally hunting down the doc when I walk in to give birth this time.

i think the labor is the worst part. it is terrible. and it gets worse the further you dilate. personally, i think the delivery isn't that bad b/c it happens so fast. the baby just comes rushing out. for me, i labored for 36 hours (from the moment i felt my first contraction) and pushed for 20 minutes and my son was delivered. i did not tear or have to be cut down there. that was my biggest fear.

Lol. No I have a real fear of the epidural. It would haunt me forever if I got it!!

I hope I'll get by with just Pethidine and Gas & Air!

the epi doesnt hurt.....or atleast it didnt hurt as bad as the contractions....i told my doctor (the one that gives the drugs...i cant spell it so i wont try lol) that i loved him and i wasnt lying lol...i was in that much pain...i think i prefer a natural birth because your bady goes back to normal faster and you can do things quicker too

Im 15 and im pregnant. What should i do? keep it or not? but one thing i am scared of abotion

Heck ya, if you don't get an epidural.

I know a girl that said her abortion hurt worse than the four births she ever experienced. At least with a birth, you can opt for a c-section and you really don't feel too much pain cause you are given pain meds. An abortion, they scrap you out with a knife. If you don't want it, then give it a chance with adoption. There are tons of people that would pay good money for a baby of their own.

Sasha, not to mention the mental anguish that my friend still has over the psychological effects of blamming herself for killing her own flesh and blood that probably looked like her and may have been that precious little girl that most women want.

15 is not that young, my mom had me at 17 and she kept me. Labor is labor if you do it now or in ten years.

Name: cjsims | Date: May 19th, 2008 12:23 AM
Actually, I'm about to do it for the 3rd time, and it honestly isn't that bad. Yeah, I guess it is in a way, but I did both the first ones without meds, and plan to do the same with this one. Don't let what movies and TV show you scare you, cause what they try to make labor and delivery out to be is not at all what it is really like. Good luck.

Child birth with out an epidural is hell! When I delivered my daughter they didn't give epidurals you had to deliver.... ALL NATURAL.

I do think if epidurals was not part of todays birthing procedure and women had to birth with out them, there would be a lot less people wanting to have multiple children.

I had one child and..... let me tell you... THAT WAS ENOUGH!!! I'm no fool, I remember extreme discomfort and I sure as heck wasn't going for it a second time, lol!

lol i dunno why this post has been brought up.. its about 3 years old...
but i WILL say that giving birth is ABSOLUTE AGONY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it hurts so so much, the contractions are EXCRUCIATING pain. i would rather of broken my leg lol.

Name: cjsims | Date: May 20th, 2008 12:39 PM
Maybe I just have a high tolerance for pain, cause I actually PREFER to do it med free. I absolutely under no circumstance want a needle going ANYWHERE near my spine, and I don't give a hootin' dogs butt how "trained" those anestesiologists claim to be. Thanks anyway for askin' doc, but NO WAY! I'd rather feel the pain than to have someone messing around with one of the most important body parts I have. Forget it. Have a nice day.

Name: Joeys_Mam | Date: May 20th, 2008 8:02 PM
I'm with Cjsims. I did it med free, and gave birth within 4 hours of my waters breaking.

Women have been having babies med free for thousands of years, and it's only recently that meds have been introduced. I declined medicated pain relief feeling that it was better for Joey and myself if I did it naturally, and I did just fine. And I'd do it again.

Name: DRB | Date: May 20th, 2008 9:07 PM
if i couldnt have done it medicated i would have had gabs and never had sex ever again.

i love drugs....during childbirth only

I won't lie, it's the worst pain you can imagine! But you forget about it when it's over. At my first lamaze class, they described labor as a feeling of tightening in your abdomen increasing to a climax and felt like horrible menstrual cramps HA! So that's all I expected, so when I went into labor, I flipped and there was no calming down. My second labor was much easier to handle because I knew what to expect. I wish they had been a little more honest with how horrible the pain was, I might have reacted differently knowing to look forward to the kinda pain that makes your hair stand on end.
