I have read the numerous mails on the forum saying Staffordshire Bull Terriers are great with children. I think anyone who has such an opinion is deluded at best and dangerous at worst. A SBT recently attacked my pushchair with my one year old child sitting in it. The dog had escaped from a nearby garden. Unbelievably, the owners who rushed out (on hearing my screams) leapt to the dog’s defence saying that it wouldn't hurt children and it played with their grandchildren all the time. The pair of idiots! Why cannot dog owners understand that dogs are animals and anything / anyone is fair game. If I see the damn thing on the road again, I will personally run it over.

staffys are the best dog to have with children however i just had a baby and am finding it hard to walk the dog and give her the attention she needs so she is getting a little resentful of the baby so i have made the horrible decision to part with the dog its sad but for me its the right thing to do as my dog is suffering .

These dogs are fighting dogs, and as such they have a high pain threshold much higher then other breeds, so when a child jumps or pulls at the dog they are less likely to bite or attack it as others might respond. It does sound in this case that possibly the owners were irresponsible. But your attitude stinks It is unfair to tarnish the whole breed because of one example after all where did racism come from in the beginning?? distasteful message.

it is always best to feed your dog all natural foods high in anti oxidants like duck meat and other thing you wouldnt usually think about .feed your puppy a free choice diet (always food down) until at least 1 year old if you dont allow the dog to worry about when it will be fed it most likely wont develope an eating disorder always leave the food some where that the puppy has people around so that it isnt bothered by people being around

Tony it is perfectly normal to worry! Also you are doing the right thing by taking her to see a vet. Keep us updated on her progress?

i have had staffies since i was young and i feel there a great dog to have around children. so much so my dog pig follows my daughter around every where and she dresses him up and treats him like a toy and he loves it. at the end of the day how you treat him is what you will get out of them

judder it is common for dogs to have some bleeding for up to 21 days being light in the first 7 and light in the last 7 not all dogs follow true to the rules with heat cycles. if the bleeding does not begin to taper off i would call your vet. i have cared for 2 staffies that had abnormal cycles and it didnt hurt them at all but it was very messy and annoying. good luck

ok. staffs are the best dogs to have with children. they are calm and do not get angry easily. they are good natured in every way. surely if you have a staff you know this already and can explain this to her, i would trust a staff over any other dog with anyone

it lasts for about a week or so its just drips not like with women. and her back end will swell a little. i have a female staff also

Name: snowflake | Date: Oct 2nd, 2007 11:17 PM
it will ease off be calm about it. remember she is a little person. i have a female too. ive had males before so its new to me, it will pass ! x

toni yes take her to the vet. is she pregnant !! even if she isnt take her to the vet and check it out. it will all pan out. x

Name: snowflake | Date: Oct 2nd, 2007 11:23 PM
think of it as if she is a woman. she is breaking her waters and so she will loose fluid. see the vet tho and get more advise. she will be fine and her pups stay close be on hand

Name: snowflake | Date: Oct 2nd, 2007 11:28 PM
i would say puppy milk and if she wont take add a little water and a little sugar, you can buy puppy food i would say 4 times a day but little and always offer water. reduce it slowley but end of the day its up to you if you want to feed once a day or twice a day, i would say breakfast and dinner but see how you go think on it as if it were you. would you eat once per day or maybe a little more.

you have a pit. they are all that is a staff but for one thing. they are unpredictable. i know you dont want to hear this but its true. keep your wits about you if you love your dog and dont trust 100% with anyone. just be carefull. if the dog has taken a dislike to somone keep that person away. be in tune with the dog. remember a man made breed bred for fighting no prisoners. trust the dog with you alone

Name: snowflake | Date: Oct 2nd, 2007 11:55 PM
lee you have a bitch. she will not be big. you can keep her fit by taking her for runs daily but take her as she is dont treat her as she for show she is a special thing a special little person dont loose site of that. enjoy her personality x

Name: snowflake | Date: Oct 3rd, 2007 12:14 AM
tricky this one, i think you hit the nail on the head tho. the dog was confused about the pram not the child. i can understand your anger i have children and would be furious if a dog came at me wotever the breed. only you know wot happend that day and think on it think it thru. maybe the dog was freaked by the pram and maybe not. id like to think that the dog did not attack the child its not in a staffs nature to do that so its a little confusing. thank god no harm was done and all is well x

her head will not split in the same way a male dog does. she is a bitch she will be smaller and not as built as a male dog. the bitch is smaller she has a smaller head and is oftern shorter.it bothers me that you do not know this already, dont treat her as an object of your desires, take her as she is, enjoy her mind. her personality not her looks see beyond that. staffs are pure class. male or female. enjoy x

Name: snowflake | Date: Oct 3rd, 2007 12:28 AM
judder. i agree 100% staffs have a bad begining bred as a man made bread for fighting. despite that they are amazing dogs. loving, caring and full of personality great with children adults and dogs if they are around other dogs from an early age. ive had 3 of them, 2 dogs and a pup bitch, wouldnt have any other breed.

Name: snowflake | Date: Oct 3rd, 2007 12:50 AM
chan. yes the staffs head does split more so in the male than the female. the male head is broader and the female is thiner the lock jaw is in both male and female
