I know how you feel. I have 3 children. 2 boys and 1 girl. My 7 year old boy has mild autism. Even though my son was diagnosed just this year, the suspicion has been there since he was 6 months old. As soon as the doctors mentioned there might be something wrong, I was on the phone with my local early intervention chapter. He was with early intervention until he was 3. We had therapists in the house daily and where at the center doing groups 3-4 times a week. He is a was a full time job . I found that my regular friends did not really understand what I go through on a regular basis. My family and my husbands family where great, and accept my son as he is and treat him like the rest of the grandchildren.
My family is the only ones I can depend on lately. I just was told the other day by my best friend (who watched my son over night 2 times when he was about 2 and 3)that she hestitated to watch him while I went away on a business trip ( First trip me and my husband have been away from the children for more than 1 night ever)because she does not understand him or his needs. He does not have rages, bang his head or anything like that. He just a mild mannered guy who does entertain himself and gets along very well with 5 year old sister. Just needs help with bathroom needs, showering etc.. I felt betrayed as I have helped friend in the past with her little sister who had issues in all areas, and have been there whenever she has needed me. Just so greatful for a caring family. ↑ |

| I am 28 I have had grandmal seizure since I was 4 years old. I have been on every medican and have had the VNS in side me and cant have surgery. I ham a good person to ask qustins about medicans or how to deal with it if you are new to it or your kid has them and you need to talk. They say I am one out of the million that can not be helped only take some medican that can keep me from having the every day so I now have about 2 a mounth. I would love to help and aswer qustions beleave me I have been there and tried eveything. But just becouse things did not help me does not mean I cant tell you something to ask your doctor or help you understand things . ↑ |

| II'm sorry things are so rough for you right now.I have 2 special needs children one is 21 now and one is 17. I remember sitting exactly where you are sitting right now.I was very lonely, I wasn't getting any answers and it felt like things would never change. It does though. If there is nothing more that I could give you today it would be the surity that the insanity you are feeling today will someday be a memory.Sometimes it is replaced by a new insanity and sometimes by an epifany but it will change.odly enough by the time your children are ready to leave home you miss the insanity. ↑ |

| mary, my heart goes out to you because I remember those days like it was yesterday.My oldest is now 21 with a 1 year old child of her own.She has borderline personality dissorder.my youngest has an I.Q. of49 and is 17 years old.We made it through physical therapy 3-4 times a day. Bottle feedings every hour on the hour for failure to thrive I have had so many doctors appointments and psychiatrists appointments, counsellors appointments and I.E.P. meetings that at times I thought I was going to pull my hair out. Looking back over all the years I have found no professional opinion has ever been as good as my gut instinct as a mother. These people do not live with my child and they certainly do not know them like I do!!! Secondly the best single sorce of information are parents who are going through the same thing you are and last but not least let this be your montra "This to shall pass". I will tell you that raising my 2 special needs girls has been my single greatest accomplishment. If I had only one request out of life it would be to contact the so called specialist who 3 times asked me if I wanted to abort both of my children so I could tell him this " My special needs children have taught me more about life, about endurance, about thinking outside the box and about stopping and smelling the roses than all the professors he studied under.I want you to know mary, that I am here for you.
