We just adopted a pit/boxer mix from one of our local shelters. Neither my boyfriend nor I have ever owned a dog of such breeds (always been lab people), but I will say - our pup is awesome! She is 9 months old, white and brindle, 35 lbs (so far). She is so smart and goofy - LOVES kids, people and other dogs and animals. She doesn't shed too much and loves to walk/run. She doesn't like the water, but is an extremely fast learner. She came to us as an un-house trained pup with not much in way of skills. We have been taking her everywhere and socializing the heck out of her - its working...she will lick you to death. Shes already crate trained and loves her toys.
I would recommend this mix to anyone and everyone for she is loyal and sweet....don't buy, adopt. we got ours from www.puthumane.org.

Im planning on gettting a boxer, I know they are hyper dogs, but are they always hyper all day or is it just some period of times they are hyper for example... new people?

I live in the illinois area I really want a boxer puppy, do any one know someone selling them?

Name: Juan | Date: Sep 7th, 2007 9:35 PM
My Boxer seems to be Hyper only when I have guess at my house or meets new people. Sometimes when you give him too much free space(front yard or park) they seem to get to hyper. Boxers are still nice dogs and are very protective of you.

you should really look at you local shelter or look at breed specific rescues (there are a bunch on the net) before you go out and by a pet. dont breed or buy while shelter dogs die(that came into my head because of the thirteen year old girl who is active in rescue on the forum PETAcnt. is asking for ideas and help with that motto

I have a 9 month old boxer/pitbull mix and he is definitely cute. He gets comments all the time on how adorable he is; especially how is ears stick up. He is definitely full of energy too. He is pretty friendly towards people, he just likes to greet people forcefully and enthusiastically. The only thing I don't understand is he freaks with the vacuum.. he barks, and you can definitely tell he is trying to attack it. I've found that you really have to be strict with him, but he gets the message pretty fast. He's all in all a very good dog.
